I have a higher opinion of mankind than beasts due to the fact that we are better than them. We are smarter, more evolved, powerful, and have been able to change the world in a way making it more compatible for our survival. Mankind is the only animal to do this; this makes us better than them, thus a higher opinion of ourselves compared to them.
"Better than beasts"?! Smarter, more powerful (?), more evolved?
In some ways we're smarter, in others, less so. How does this make us better? It makes us more dangerous and harmful, sure, but better?
"More powerful?" Technologically? That doesn't make us better. It makes us more dangerous, to ourselves, and to the planet. Clearly our wisdom doesn't match our cleverness.
"More evolved?" No. Absolutely not. How are we any more "evolved" than a dog or tulip? Q: How are you defining evolution?
We've been able to change the world in a way that's disrupted
all of the natural systems life depends on. We're generating unprecedented rates of extinction, and now seem poised to exterminate even ourselves. We're destroying the ecosystem lefe depends on. How does this make us better? What it does is make humankind a planetary infection, and a singularly unsuccessful species.
Nobody cares about how successful we are from a biological perspective, success is determined by a human perspective. From a human perspective, nothing in the universe is known to be as successful as mankind.
How are you defining success, and what is this human perspective that you seem to think can operate independent of the ecosystem that supports us?
