Is ISIS a disaster for all muslims?

Why do they breed the most terrorism and extremism?

I don't like to use the term terrorists or terrorism. It's just so terribly politically loaded now.

I have to agree with you on this if I understand and believe all the media, hence my source of reality outside the US.

I still don't think ISIS should be assoicated with all Muslims. It's just too extreme of a proposition.

Outhouse, I actually agree with you on many fronts concerning Muslims and our conflict with them but I personally am leaving room for doubt to ensure that I didn't blindly leap into this.

I want reform, its not about anti theism.

We have to admit the problem and define it before it can be fixed. Im trying to do this with no bias one side or the other and sugar coating it wont do anything.

I totally agree. But the freedom of thought is sacred, of course. Besides...those protesters do not represent Islam at all. I've met wonderful Muslims when I lived in the college campus. One of them was from Lebanon, but most of them from Tunisia and Libya.
They were religious and in fact they kept the Quran in their rooms. They were so open-minded and never talked about religion.

I visited Libya during Gadafi regime i'ts was wonderfull and very peacefull country and people .

so we lost it , because Arabic Spring which supported by Nato .

Gaddafi lost the west's support when he ordered the blowing up of the Lockerbie jumbo.
Our gutless politicians should have rounded him up there and then and hung him.
Later when the rebels were after his blood the west did the next best thing and helped them bust his a**..:)

I agree, I don't think it represents Muslim as a whole. So suggesting that "ISIS is a distaster for ALL Muslims?" is simply unfair to even ask.

Well, my answer is no. Break it down further and you should be able to find differences. I agree with one being fanaticism.

To my knowledge other Muslim leaders from Egypt and other countries are denouncing the ISIS.

My point was that since ISIS is so barbaric, and claims to be particularly islamic, it makes all muslims look bad.

If something like ISIS can come from islam, and given that we see muslims living in civilized countries joining ISIS, it is hard not to view our muslim neighbours with suspicion.

The Westboro church is despicable for their extreme views and actions, but I do not associate them with baptist churches. They are definitely in a league of their own.

That is certainly very true.

It would seem that the Muslim leadership in the UK are very aware of this and have come together to condemn ISIS.

However the connection between ISIS and Muslims has already been made in peoples minds., and ISIS support is coming from Muslim communities, and people from those Muslim UK communities are Joining them as fighters. So the damage has already been done. Muslim leaders are right to be concerned.

What they or we can do about it, is both difficult and uncertain, but it is a problem that is not going away any time soon.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the USA, when more US Muslims join those IS fighters. Or worse still bring the battle to home soil.
