Is Islam a universal religion.

You seem to have been implying that Islam is a universal religion.

Well am not sure about the word "universal".

Did it mean that followed by all muslims that are around the world.

Or did it mean that it can be adapted by all people.

For a non-Muslim, "Islam" is generally understood as meaning "the religious practice that claims inspiration from the Quran", so the second meaning is probably the one intended.

Muslims are generally understood (by outsiders at least) to already be adherents of Islam.

It is not possible to have a universal religion. Religion means a belief system with its moral structure, social structures and rituals. Every religion has its boundary and demands loyalty. Religions create collective consciousness. They also may have the ambition to expand their boundaries and increase their numbers. They also may have the need to protect their boundaries. Hence no religion can be universal. Universal means embracing everyone within one's fold. No one is excluded. Religions cannot do that. But it is possible to have persons who live in the universal consciousness. Universal consciousness is that which is united with the whole of humanity and of creation. It lives for the welfare of the whole of humanity and of creation. It is like a trunk of a tree that receives the life force from the roots and gives to all the branches and the leaves. It lives for the whole tree.

Is Islam a universal religion?

Sure it is.

Quran claimed it. And it is all over the world; spread peacefully.

In brief:

It means Islam is for the whole world; and it could be adapted by all the people; its teachings are simple, natural, practical, reasonable, rational; easy to follow. It fulfills all ethical, moral and spiritual needs of all the human beings.

Regards

So why does it produce such cesspit societies?

Societies in no way represent Islam. If you want to evaluate using societies, make sure the society is actually practicing Islam.

This is a cop-out. What counts is what people who profess islam actually do.

What is telling is that the experts in islam visibly incite barbarisms and engage in corruption in muslim-majority societies.

Not really. Not every born muslim practices Islam and not all people who say I am a muslim actually practice Islam.

I'm curious if you could give me even a rough estimate of how many people actually practice Islam around the world, then?

And when you give this number, are you including the people you mention above, ?

Perhaps Islam is actually a great minority, rarely practiced then, would you agree?

I would say five percent of total labelled muslims are really practicing muslims. However, I would say that 90 percent or maybe more of the people who later come to Islam are true muslims. I am not sure if that would make it easy for you.

Yes, I would agree. This is one of the prophecies of our prophet muhammad peace be upon him.

We are great in numbers but low in quality

Perhaps you mean practice Islam the right way?

But I do see your point, and agree with the main notion behind it. It is predicted already that piety keeps decreasing with each generation of Islam!
