kind of a very vague answer...Katzpur said:I don't think he'd necessarily come up with some miracles. A prophet is, after all, not a soothsayer of some kind. And God wouldn't call him to perform magic tricks. A prophet would lead people towards God. Lives would be made better because of him. In other words, you would know him by the fruits he produced. If he was a fake, sooner or later people would catch on. Everything he said would be forgotten within a relatively short period of time after he died and there would be somebody new in line to take his place.
Maybe it's vague. Since you're an atheiest, I'm sure it would take a bonafide miracle to convince you. Again, about all I can say is that a real prophet would provide people with guidance and direction to help them live better lives. His message would people to a higher plane than they were before they found him. He would be inspired to great acts of compassion towards humanity. He would draw people of all faiths together. He would speak as God's representative and those who believed him would know that when they were listening to him, they were hearing what God wanted them to hear.flupke said:kind of a very vague answer...
Still don't see how you would recognize 'produced fruits' from 'apparent produced fruits'.
Suppose the prophet is modern and broadcasts on television; how could you ever test real from fraud ? I'm sure there are tons of 'frauds' out there already.
Pat Robertson comes to mind.Katzpur said:I don't think he'd necessarily come up with some miracles. A prophet is, after all, not a soothsayer of some kind. I agree, he doesn't exactly strike me as the kind of Christian Jesus Christ would want representing Him. On the other hand, has he actually ever claimed to be a prophet? I really don't know the answer to this question, because I never watch him.Toad said:Pat Robertson comes to mind.
Get him off the pulpit!
