Existential Nihilism.Nihilism refers to a few different things depending on context. Could you help us understand which nihilism you are pointing to?
The notion that existence has no objective meaning or purpose?Existential Nihilism.
Nihilism can neither be proven true or false.I feel like nihilism is true but I don't want it to be.
True and not true makes no sense.Nihilism can neither be proven true or false.
Attributing value, purpose or meaning is always axiomatic. There are no objective criteria to determine value.

Yep, unknown or unknowable do, but that is unsatisfactory to many.True and not true makes no sense.
So Nihilism does not originate from Buddhism or Hinduism ?I would say Nihilism is a false philosophy that came in the background of ignorance of the phenomenon of enlightenment, which has been emphasized in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sufism.
Nihilism claims that all virtues and values are abstract contrivances without any relevance of their own. This philosophy has been deludedly used by the nazis and serial criminals to justify their excesses.
On the other hand eastern philosophy states that virtues and values are equivalent to meditation itself, enabling the raising of consciousness leading to enlightenment.
Rajini Menon is a modern enlightened sage who attained enlightenment by adhering to virtuous conduct and her conscience without any Gurus or spiritual exercises. I had created a thread over here in this regard..

Yes. It is very widely agreed upon, but it's still only a construct. And a very modern one at that. We only have recently agreed that it's bad between spouses, and there are still people who don't agree. You deny human rights? Is for example "raping is bad" only a subjective position?
Addendum: and then there are those people who think it isn't really that bad. At least not bad enough to not vote for rapists. You may get an Attorney General who is a rapist (though he evaded conviction until now).Yes. It is very widely agreed upon, but it's still only a construct. And a very modern one at that.
