I was watching PMSNBC yesterday, the Ed show particularly and the host said not raising the minimum wage was racist.

I think talking heads on news-o-tainment networks can come up with silly arguments to fit just about any conclusion they dream up. It's best to avoid cable news altogether.
Racist? Sounds like Ed. At one time, he had the third most popular radio talk show in the country. Maybe he still does. But in my opinion, you don't get ratings like that in America without saying some pretty crazy things.
I was trying to follow the logic, he said 17% of minimum wage workers were people of color.
That sounded about right to me. I was thinking to say not raising minimum wage being racist would imply that the only jobs people of color had where minimum wage jobs seemed more of a racist assumption than anything else.

I think Chris Hayes is pretty level headed most of the time. That's why I think he'll get cancelled one of these days.
Racism is in the news with the NBA team owner makng terrible remarks.
I guess Ed thought he would jump on the band wagon and demonized the whole GOP playing the race card.
I think everyone in this country hates racism not just Progressives.

Depending on the show you watch they imply everything they don't like is racist.
Not raising the minimum wage is stupid in my opinion but not racist.
Bob, do you think making 10.10 an hour 3 years from now will actually lift anyone out of poverty?

I'm thinking if we really want to help folks, this country needs jobs that pay more than minimum wage.

True..Chris is ok...
Ed has his moments when he's talking about issues such as the TPP, or the XL Pipeline or actually getting out to talk to working Americans...but at the end of the day it's infotainment.
Raising the minimum wage increasing spending across the board. Which increases profits across the board. Which will increase employment across the board. It has every time its been done though history.
No--but making the suggestion is.
I dunno there is an old saying, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken chit.
The middle class is doomed if we think minimum wage jobs are the answer.

The middle class is always doomed, but for short periods of time we can be content.
Minimum wage isn't a solution, it's a life preserver.
That's a good point about Ed. He does side with the workers and in some ways, he's about the only nationally recognized voice for unions these days.
It's not the overt racism that worries me. It's the covert.
