Is there Free Will in Heaven?

T-Dawg

If the OP is referring to the Christian heaven, I have an immediate answer:

Revelation 7:17
"For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of living
water.
And God will wipe away every tear from
their eyes."

So the Lamb (Jesus) is our "shepherd," who leads us to our watering holes each day, and God forbids us from feeling (or at least expressing) sadness, which is clearly a violation of free will.

Muslims believe in earlier divine revelations sent by God before the Qur'an

It is one of the six articles of faith in Islam to believe in the Torah which God sent to Moses, peace be upon him, and the Injeel God sent Jesus, peace be upon him

The faith preached by all God's prophets never changed: it has always been Monotheism: the belief in the One and Only Creator and Sustainer of the universe. What evolved in some aspects was the Divine Law. For example, God prohibited some matters in the Torah for the Jews, which were later made permissible in the Injeel, ... and so on

Think of God's prophets and His Divine Revelations as a chain which complement each other. The Qur'an being God's last preserved Divine Revelation 14 centuries ago (which remains intact and unchanged by man) is His final Guidance to all mankind

To further answer your question which Book to follow, compare then make up your mind

This is the approach of a French surgeon, Dr. Maurice Baucaille, which he documented in his book titled (The Bible, The Qur'an and Science: The Holy Scriptures Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge).

This is an on-line version of his book:

The Bible, The Qur'an and Science

it's already been proven that there is absolutely no science in any scriptures that are older than 200 years old, because that is roughly the age of modern science. How can there possibly be modern science in scripture, when scripture is thousands of years older than it?

There may be some obvious truths, such as there being light or bugs having 6 legs and spiders having 8, but the bible even says some bugs have 4 and i've not seen one such insect. it's just too farfetched of an idea to say that science and scripture coincide in any way.

...On the Day of Judgment, believers will be admitted into Heaven by God's Mercy, and they would have free will, but will not disobey God, as God will remove evil from the hearts of all dwellers of Paradise.
So....why doesn't he do that now?

So the answer is life on earth is different from life in Heaven
You totally did not answer the question. I imagine that is because there IS no answer to the question, but let me just make it clear.

THe question is essentially, WHY did God make life on earth different from life in Heaven?

Because we are not angels

He created us with a free will to believe or disbelieve

In Heaven you can't disbelieve as you "see" God, that's true, but you have free will to live your life there the way you please

Because right now we are going through the "test"

It's an "open book test" as He has shown us His guidance

Our role is to solve the test
So, did the thousands of children who died in the 2004 Asian Tsunami (while God looked on and did nothing) pass the test?

But I believe it was said that in Heaven there WILL be free will and no one will disbelieve. Why not do that on earth, particularly when people are punished so badly for believing wrongly?
In Heaven you can't disbelieve as you "see" God, that's true, but you have free will to live your life there the way you please
Again, so why not have that on earth? What is this test? Is it so important that millions will burn in hell forever when they could have had free will and never chosen evil?

Children are not accountable until they reach the age of puberty when they start to be independent from their parents and start having a free will to choose between alternatives

No, not at all, that's not the point. God has reserved a place in Heaven for each single human being and He wants them to go to Heaven as He created them all

The test we are going through is the test of life with a free will to choose between belief and disbelief, between good and evil, being equipped with an advanced intellect which enables us to think on the abstract level, and also being equipped with the Guidance sent to us by our Creator to live a happy life here and in the Hereafter

I see a revolving door discussion.

Free will on earth...yeah...I agree.
Free will in heaven?...yeah.

There's no point in bestowing free will unto a soul...only to destroy that will.

Go to heaven...get a lobotomy?
Sure...if you really want one.

And yes...disobedience can happen in heaven.
Fallen angels?...yeah...it can happen

What happens to the people who fail the test and die?

What happens to them when they die?

"You shall not enter...until you are such as these."
Jesus, as He had been surrounded by children...and His disciples made objection.

Pardon if you will the quote...as different books read differently.

But the test is a foregone conclusion, if God is omniscient.

God knows who will pass the test and who won't but His knowledge does not contradict with our free will

He knows because He is Eternal, which means He is not constrained by the boundaries of time. There is no separation between past, present and future in His knowledge, and His knowledge is independent from each person's free decision to believe or disbelieve, obey or disobey
