I am in my 80's and lived through WW2 and every war since.
I am not fooled by anyone.
It is clear to me from the words I have heard, from his own mouth, that he suffers from NPD
He is Dangerous, but probably not as dangerous as Hitler Mussolini, Stalin, Mao or Pol Pot. As their danger was magnified by the acquiescence of their people. Though McCarthyism showed that The USA was not immune to mass hysteria.
I am not smitten by conspiracy theories of little grey men in dark corners pulling our strings.
No one is undermining Trump, he is doing all that is needed himself.
I have to admit I have somewhat mixed feelings about Trump. I was never much of a Trump fan; I always thought he was a bit of blowhard and rather obnoxious at times. He may or may not be "dangerous," but at this point in my life, I'm not afraid of that kind of danger. I'm in my 50s and lived through the Cold War, just as you obviously have. How much more "dangerous" can it get?
I think Trump's election is merely a reflection of the many bizarre absurdities that we embrace in our political culture. In many ways, I think Americans deserve Trump. We have made our own bed. It's not Trump that's dangerous. It's the fact that so many Americans have been wanting to live in their own insular dream world for far too long. We've wanted to have our cake and eat it too. We've wanted to maintain the status quo just for the sake of maintaining the status quo, but as a result, we've drifted into la-la land.
The thing is, Trump would not be president today if the establishment Democrats and Republicans had been faithful to their principles and fulfilled their promises to the people. Plus, there's the media and the celebrity cliques who have been major contributors to the illusion. Now that Trump's elected, they're all scratching their heads wondering what went wrong. They're as much to blame as anyone else, and the worst part is, they're so out of touch with reality that they don't even know why. It's as if they believe all these Trumpanzees just appeared out of nowhere, and they don't have the faintest clue as to what in the heck happened. All this hand-wringing and confusion, just by itself, is proof positive of just how clueless and out of touch many in the political and media establishment have been all this time.
