It just seems like religion only benefits men...

Religions have, throughout history, in some form, denigrated women. I'm coming to the conclusion that women don't gain much from religion. So what's the point? Why should a woman even want to be religious?

Thoughts?

Its not entirely correct. If you want to speak about different standards for the sexes throughout time, society has done it, and you blaming it on religion is a made up theory with no evidence to it. Are you speaking about causes and you put it on scripture or are you speaking about outcomes? Whats your research on this?

If you dont have any research and if this is just preaching or playing to the gallery, it is just made up for pleasure.

Cheers.

Religious creation thesis is a review about man's machine occult human chosen science.

That taught why a mental science thesis allows a self destroyer man's conscious status to exist.

As caused to man for displacing the natural feminine role with a human female body creator in life who bled.

He said space is a womb is in fact a lie.

Space is empty zero nothing owner of no thing.

Mass is self present self formed self owned.

The teaching.

Space science said in maths science is nothing position zero.

Theorising a human teaching stated to own ability to convert you have to impose a space moment in mass to force it to convert.

Science was told never infer any creation title to creation as it is a Direct human lie. As a theist.

Saying space was a mother places Man's thought equal human woman into self non existence in theism.

Science creation theisms any theory or type human theory.

Did in fact lie about a human woman's equality in life. By reading and misquoting documented teaching only.

For humans by humans as humans.

The Baha'i Faith doesn't denigrate women.

Speaking from a Sufi P.O.V there has been many female master in sufism over the time, and in general I believe ( without proof) that sufism has a more open view of woman as teachers, leaders and so on, but of some reason males seems to "push" them selves more forward into leader position than woman, woman in sufism seems to be laid back actually.

I was Catholic for a while. I saw that it was full of blatant misogny. Women cannot become priests. Popes have spoken against women serving at the altar. Some object to altar girls, or even Eucharistic ministers. In my diocese, women can't even do readings.
Hi....
There are other churches that ordain women now and appoint bishops. And ordain Gays as well...... things are moving onwards and upwards.

Tertullian said that a woman is a temple built over a sewer.
St. Jerome thought pregnant women were disgusting and shouldn't be allowed out in public. Clement of Alexandria said that "Every woman should be filled with shame .....
So their bigotry has finally caught up with them.... :)

I'm sorry, I mean no rudeness, I am simply pointing out how woman have been viewed throughout history, especially in religion. We can partake, but only in a limited way. We can practice, but only if a man oversees it and says it's okay.
I remember learning about some very very famous, successful, powerful women ....... :)

You make it sound as though religion is useless when applied to women. But women learn that they are slaves of men (or pets that men own). Religion teaches them to talk only when spoken to, cleave unto their husbands, and spend their lives raising children, cleaning toilets (regardless of intelligence or education), and cooking food. So, religion does instruct women.

Frankly, I think that women need to take some empowerment courses and reevaluate their role in society.

Equal pay for equal work makes sense.

GOP pans push for paid leave

Link above says:

"President Obama’s plea to ensure paid leave for all workers is falling flat with Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill. Republicans didn’t join in the applause when Obama told Congress in his State of the Union address to “send me a bill” mandating paid sick leave or paid maternity leave for all workers. Obama argued paid leave is “not a nice-to-have — it’s a must-have.”"

Please realize that the Religious Right backed Republicans.

When a man cheats on his wife, many Christian women believe that they have a religious obligation to forgive (and forgive again the next time their husbands cheat), etc., etc., etc.

I was talking to a women's lib English professor about this. She spoke of the need to have equal pay for equal work. She said that many of the words in our society help men (like a manhole cover of a sewer). She said that women are just as smart and just as capable as men. She said that she didn't want to get involved in women's rights issues because she was only a women. So, I suggested that she hire some men to petition for women's rights instead, because they get things done.

I agree woman are just as smart and capable as men, often better actually because females have often more empathy than some men.

I don't think that the author of this string felt that the bible mandates that take away women's rights are preaching, nor was he playi9ng to a gallery.

Rather, I believe that the deprivation of rights, due to religious dogma, is a topic that a religious forum should address. Equal pay for equal work seems fair, yet the bible seems very unfair.

I believe that the bible was written by men, and it seems that they have carved out a very strong and permanent niche for themselves. Were these laws really instituted by God?

Why Religion Opposes Female Rights

This website, from the Huffington Post, discusses why religions put down women.

Lets remember that the founder, Ariana Huffington, had a cheating Gay Republican husband who was a politician and very outspoken against Gays (she felt that he was a hypocrite).

Their religion mandated that she should forgive him and continue the marriage.

Such actions squelched her desire to continue with her religion and squelched her desire to continue with the Republican party. Since she knew where the skeletons were buried (the dirt on Republicans), she became a very outspoken and powerful opponent of the Republican party (a woman scorned).

Joan of Arc.......... yeah......... no........ :D
Ummm....... Queen Elizabeth 1st?
Boadicea?...... I know she lost a battle and got killed by nasty Romans, but so did lots of blokes.

OK.......... so women have had a bad deal at the hands of Gods and a lot of blokes.

And you are right about Bahai, which definitely pushes women in to domestic and teaching jobs, they can't sit on the World House of Justice, don't have such strong inheritance rights and other stuff. And Bahaullah wrote that blokes can have two wives. He had three or four! :D

But many churches are getting better.

I didnt mention the Bible "I think".

nor was he playi9ng to a gallery.

that's great that you know the author very well. So please do submit the research he has conducted.

Thanks in advance.

Please show the research as that was the main point of my post you are replying to, but has ignored very thoroughly.

I think all of you have made some very good points. I am going to sit on this and think about it for a while. Maybe I'm just going through a crisis of faith. But I do appreciate the responses.

Looking from outside (atheist) i see women considered 2nd class (or worse) by the abrahamic religions.
Probably due to the fact that the Middle Eastern cultures they were derived from over a thousand years ago were quite patriarchal. Changes have been taking place in more modern times, but they tend to take place very s-l-o-w-l-y.

The women until recently tended to die young, the tribes needed them to reproduce frequently, needed them to do lots of manual labor, needed them to do lots of things that men couldn't.
In pre-industrial patriarchies, women faced a very high chance of dieing during childbirth, and the widespread cultural-political practice to force women into pregnancies at very young ages exacerbated this danger.

So the misogynistic practices of patriarchial pre-industrial societies directly contributed to the problem they allegedly were implemented to fix.

The human reproductive process is misogynist, creating inequality and short lifespan all by itself, however I agree that pre-industrial societies (not only patriarchical ones but all of them even the Amazon ones) were misogynist. I know of no society in any time or any place which is not misogynist. The difference is that today medicine, education and machinery have all improved. Females can opt for: no birth, birth surgery, adoption, abortion. They live as long or longer than males. Even so their relatively smaller body strength, more involved reproductive position and nurturing nature instantly creates inequality. That for me explains misogyny. It is created by nature (some would say by God, but I would not) and is something we have to fight against, much like we have to fight against our own violent tendencies and ignorance.

Why fight against? #1 we are one species. Helping women helps us all. #2 plenty of other reasons
