Love George Carlin. But maybe you could find something more recent. Like the don’t say gay bill. Or the banning of “CRT”. Or banning books like Maus. Lots of examples occurring every day.I'll do my part.
That's true, but for making the point how not-PC this was, that drives the point home. It basically just means being respectful to others in how we refer to them. Calling slavery something less offensive than what it is, is the opposite of being respectful. It's the opposite of political correctness. It's political offensiveness. It is a gross error to think that political correctness is only a "liberal thing".
No, it's not that either. It means being respectful to others. Calling people terms that they find offensive is not politically correct. Calling slavery some euphemism instead, shows disrespect to this history all Black people in this country. It is not a liberal thing. It is a power thing. It is when those who have power use that power to dictate what people are allowed to say and think. 2+2=5 is politically correct if the ones in power say it is so.
Just because conservatives succeed in putting that label on their opposition doesn’t mean that is what the term means.

Thanks for affirming what I just said. "Political correctness (adjectivally: politically correct; commonly abbreviated PC) is a term used to describe language, policies, or measures that are intended to avoid offense or disadvantage to members of particular groups in society"

It's really the left.It is to you and me because we can see that such lies are offensive. The right is trying to lie by covering up the evils of America's past. But I have seen that in general being PC is usually just that sort of lie. This example is more extreme than most.
And yes, I know it's a pejorative term. But I ask you, how is calling slavery something less than it was, trying to avoid offense to Black people?? Quite the contrary, it is highly offensive.Keep reading.
And you think that the right has not done the same with the anti abortion people? In fact the Republican party has lost their ideals because all that they do is to pander to various single issue voters. The appeal to various extremists positions and as a result are no longer a rational party. It's really the left.
Black people are nothing but cattle to them to farm votes and to extract money.

In the early-to-mid 20th century, the phrase politically correct was used to describe strict adherence to a range of ideological orthodoxies within politics. In 1934, The New York Times reported that Nazi Germany was granting reporting permits "only to pure 'Aryans' whose opinions are politically correct".[2]
The term political correctness first appeared in Marxist-Leninist vocabulary following the Russian Revolution of 1917. At that time it was used to describe strict adherence to the policies and principles of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, that is, the party line.[23] Later, in the United States, the phrase came to be associated with accusations of dogmatism in debates between American Communists and American Socialists. According to American educator Herbert Kohl, writing about debates in New York in the late 1940s and early 1950s, the Socialists saw the Communists as always having a "correct" position on all political matters.
It can apply to any oppressive control over thought and language. And that is what is happening in Texas in the year 2022.
Just understand I am using the term in the original sense. The first time I heard the term "political correctness," it was used somewhat scornfully or mockingly. A lot of people associate it with liberals and the left because it might coincide with leftist positions which eventually became more mainstream, such as equality, civil rights, social justice. What many people refer to as "political correctness" these days (in my opinion) refers to Corporate America's attempt to adapt to the changing political environment. It can sometimes come off as manufactured, artificial, and even a bit silly at times.

Also blacks are just as responsible for slavery as whites are if you want to keep history honest. Why only blacks?
Many white folk died fighting in that war that freed them.
Some issues concern us all.
Dare I say it....
White lives matter too.
Did I say only Blacks? If said only, you'd have a cause for this post. Why only blacks?
