Teen jailed for Facebook 'joke' is released - CNN.com
This is an article about a teen that is facing serious prison sentences over a joke. Granted the joke was offensive and terrible and no one should ever talk about "shooting up kids" but in the context that it was obvious that he was not going to do anything of the sort he was still arrested and has spent considerable time in jail due to a bond being set at 500k (higher than the average murderer's bail).
Don't forget this is the same America that has been collecting information from us on the internet from via the NSA. Wonder if I've said anything online or in a private email that would be arrest worthy. I wonder how many of you have said something over the internet that was worse even that what he said.
This seems to be a serious breech in our freedom. Though at the same time we can at least somewhat see that the child involved needed to be made an example of as these kinds of threats should be taken seriously. However is the punishment far exceeding the crime?
