To appreciate God irrespective of my belief in it.

That's got to rank among the most profound statements ever made on this board. Thanks, Jay. That was food for a day.

EDIT: More than a day... I'm stealing that one and taking it to heart.

Could you elaborate?

Specifically:

  • How do you define god in terms of this response?
  • When you say 'Appreciate' would you advocate reverence of god?

On a completely unrelated note but out of curiosity, do you like the show Glee?

As preternatural agency.

Jay... Your not always the most verbose. I did ask if you could elaborate. hehe.

Nonetheless... Let me help... Are you defining god as an agency that is ineffable, indescribable and unknowable?

Or are you referring to Yhwh, Allah, Ra, Thor or something more easily defined?

:)

I'm sorry, but I've never heard of it.

It has nothing to do with religion... Glee that is. Its available on netflix or hulu. In any event... Its about the Glee Club in high school. Rather an entertaining show. Since you have not heard of that one, what shows do you find entertaining?

I would recommend: House, Lie to me, Glee, 24, Modern Family, Family Guy, 30 Rock, Lost, Six Feet Under or Cougar town... to name a few shows I find entertaining.

What would you recommend?

Hey Jay,

One thing I've always wanted to know about you..

Do you own a tweed jacket, a briar pipe and a comfy leather armchair?

Do you like tea or is it Sunday?

Maimonides viewed YHYW as an agency that is ineffable, indescribable and unknowable. I believe I suggested elsewhere a preference for apophatic theology, but theology as verb is also a relationship and this aspect encourages an effort to make the ineffable accessible. Perhaps the importance lies in the evolving effort rather than the conclusion.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I'm an NCIS fan. My wife and I enjoy theater and ballet greatly. I also read a good deal ...

Unfortunately, no, but I do in fact own a high quality ...
