My daughter's death was intensely painful and disorienting. I had previously lost my mother and my youngest brother, but it was nothing like my daughter's death. I do not want to lose a wife, child, or grandchild. What is your biggest fear?

It's a matter of money, time, and the quality of the experience one is seeking.
I have enough money to address all reasonable priorities.
Since I work full time, there are real constraints on my time. Much can be done with 5 weeks of vacation, but these five weeks are best shared with my wife and grandchildren -- at least for now.
Going on a dig has its attractions, but it's also easily romanticized. I'd much rather spend 8 hours listening to Mazar or Finkelstein in lecture than sifting dirt.
It will come ...
I typically attend Friday night services and Saturday morning services and Torah class at a Reform synagogue.Do you attend religious services? How often? What type of congregation?
No ...Do you believe you might go on to live after you die in this life?

One stone at a time.Jay, I watched a ridiculous special on Egypt last night. In your years of study, what is the most plausible explanation for how the pyramids were built.
Did you ever try to tip over a pyramid? Also, is there any mystery to why pyramids were built all over the world without people knowing they were all building pyramids?
I have read they might have used oil to slide the blocks along. Pretty ingenious. One stone at a time.
Nope is it hard, maybe close to impossible?Did you ever try to tip over a pyramid?
Please stop polluting this thread.I have read ...
That if God, God is not a noun, i.e., not a person, place, or thing. What does "God is a verb" mean?
I'm sorry, Revasser, but I haven't a clue how to answer the question except to note that the history of Judaism has yet to be fully resolved.I'm curious Jay, how does it feel to have an unbroken, if fluid, line of tradition and history in Judaism?

I guess I'd rather have a sense of pride in the species.I've chatted with some Jews who had a great sense of pride in a line supposedly stretching back into prehistory.
What are your thoughts on cultural traits humanity could/should adopt to improve upon our current societal structure and to aid the goals of peace, science/technological advancement and to further our understanding of our role in the Universe?I guess I'd rather have a sense of pride in the species.
