Clouds are in the air last I checked.
Paul says to comfort one another with these words. So it seems the "we" which are alive, and the "them" which are asleep, are ALL who have the same hope.Really?????
Then what was Paul saying when he said, "The dead in Christ shall rise....then we which are alive will be caught up (modern day rapture term) with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air."
Clouds are in the air last I checked.
It is not God's kingdom in the sense that God is going to build it or live in it.It's God's kingdom but it's not God's kingdom?
There are currently 2.4 billion Christians in the world. Generations over the last 2000 years have understood this.
God builds His heavenly kingdom (New Jerusalem) out of people. Each house is a particular person. And all those persons(houses) together make up a great city. "For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Heb 11:10It is not God's kingdom in the sense that God is going to build it or live in it.
It is the kingdom that God wants for humans. God has no wants for Himself because God has no needs.
You have to be careful. "God" does not teach anything. At least not in the sense that you are using the word. And if you are talking about the Bible the Bible does have an endless punishment in hell, but it also contradicts itself. It is the bible after all. As to what Satan is it is not clear. He is clearly not another man, are you claiming that he is a god himself? That could be since the Old Testament does strongly imply polytheism at points.Well, I haven't discussed it with most atheist, but I would certainly agree that most Christians don't understand it.
Most Christians are Trinitarian. Not taught by God.
Most Christians believe man was created with an immortal soul. Not taught by God.
Most Christians believe Satan is a fallen angel. Not taught by God.
Most Christians believe demons are also fallen angels. Not taught by God.
Most Christians believe Jesus did not have the same flesh as Paul. Not taught by God.
Most Christians believe in eternal torment in the center of the earth for non-believers. Not taught by God.
It's pointless to argue with you as to whether the Bible is inspired by God or not. The endless punishment in hell (the grave) is call "eternal punishment" not "eternal torment". Death is the wages of sin, and anyone who is without Christ does not escape death. Therefore, the punishment is eternal. You have to be careful. "God" does not teach anything. At least not in the sense that you are using the word. And if you are talking about the Bible the Bible does have an endless punishment in hell, but it also contradicts itself. That is a TOTALLY different subjectYou need to get it back. Too many Christians have the very mistaken idea that they can do no wrong.

I suppose it's because Darwin and Hawking taught everything. How do you know?
Yes, that is one way the Bible can be interpreted. There is more than one valid interpretation.God builds His heavenly kingdom (New Jerusalem) out of people. Each house is a particular person. And all those persons(houses) together make up a great city. "For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Heb 11:10
Indeed.Except when it comes to death. They have no solution.
It's the Achilles heel for Darwin and Hawking. At the end of the day all they can do is scratch their heads and say "What's the point?"Indeed.
The second coming Jesus was a maths meaning known science human caused prophecy.@ SeekingAllTruth
“In these passages Jesus is explicit about his return. He said that he would return riding the clouds with angels to judge the world and that with the sound of a trumpet he would send his angels to gather his chosen ones from the Earth. This would be no secret, invisible or “spiritual” event. Instead, the whole world would see him in the sky just the whole world sees the light of the sun.”
Jesus’ Failed Prophecy About His Return
A. Jesus never said HE was going to return, Jesus said we would SEE the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven.
Who is the Son of man who will come in the clouds of heaven?
B. There is no reason to think that any of the verses were ever intended to be interpreted literally, so clouds and angels and trumpets do not refer to actual clouds and angels and trumpets. Much of the Bible is figurative language, not literal.
C. Finally, the Bible does not say that it would be no secret invisible or “spiritual” event and that instead, the whole world would see him in the sky just the whole world sees the light of the sun.” The Bible says that Christ would return as a thief in the night. If it is going to be such a huge event, why does the Jesus say that we should be watching, lest we miss the huge event?
When a thief breaks into the house at night, he comes in and goes out quietly, such that nobody even notices him... It is only in the morning that the homeowner realizes that he has been there because of the telltale signs he left behind.
Rev 3:2-3 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Rev 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
Luke 12:39-40And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
Matthew 24:42-44 (KJV) Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Matthew 24:42-44 (TLB)So be prepared, for you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Just as a man can prevent trouble from thieves by keeping watch for them, so you can avoid trouble by always being ready for my unannounced return.
2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Mark 13:32-37 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
I rest my case.
Well, I think they believe the point of this life is what they can get out of their life in this world, since they "believe" that is all there is. All I can say to that is "my are they going to be surprised."It's the Achilles heel for Darwin and Hawking. At the end of the day all they can do is scratch their heads and say "What's the point?"
I believe their surprises have all ended.Well, I think they believe the point of this life is what they can get out of their life in this world, since they "believe" that is all there is. All I can say to that is "my are they going to be surprised."
John 12:24-26 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
If God really cared about all the disillusioned Christians who believe in Jesus' literal return to earth--79% according to a recent Pew Poll--wouldn't He send his holy spirit to clear up the illusion????
This question NEVER elicits a response from Christians. Just watch. No one will respond.
