NOT Christianity in a nutshell. But an atheist idea of Christianity.
I don't know... it seems to sum up the situation that a lot of Christians present pretty accurately. You know the drill... if God created all the universe, and makes all the rules, then He is the one enacting any and all punishments for not accepting Him. Jesus knocks, wanting to "save" you... and yet what is He saving you from? Some dastardly plot hatched by "Satan?" Nope. The only thing He can purport to be saving you from are consequences layed out by God Himself. Done.

How so?

The comedy of it just devalues christianity but the intent of it is christianity.

For example, god so loved the world that whomever believes in him has everlasting life."

If god knocked on your door and said "if you believe me me, I'll give you everlasting life" and you say no, there is a consequence. You won't have everlasting life and the consequences where set up by god, the one who knocked at your door.

Another example is "they have no excuse" verse. Jesus knocks, you say no, he says "you've already known me, you have no excuse" does he just let you be?

In the bible, there is a consequence for not accepting god's gift and that the gift and the consequence only came from and set up by one person: god.

It's actually not an atheist quote. Something like this would be:

How's it not a sum of christianity?
Take out the humor and belittlement. The intent is the same.

So what is the purpose of Christianity if it isn't to convince you that by accepting Jesus as your savior from what he (in the form of god) will do to you (send you to Hell) if you don't accept him (in the form of a human) as your savior? To me, nutshell-wise, that's pretty much it.

Jesus wants to save you from what he will do to you if you don't accept that he will save you from what he will do to you if you don't accept that he will save you.

A pretty wild scenario IMO, but there you are. Christianity in a

Very interesting that so many atheists think they know so much about Christianity.

..... well. Only those who weren't christians would apply to this comment. Those who were most likely had a relationship with christ and know about christianity. They just don't follow it.

Why can't an atheist know more about christianity than a christian and still be athiest?

(Have you noticed, though, those who never been christian don't converse in many if any christian-related threads?)

Right, and Jesus is God according to Christians. So the only thing he is "saving" Christians from is the damnation that they believe he would impose upon them if they disbelieved in him.

You have to believe the savior saves you from the damnation that the savior would impose upon you if you didn't believe in him.

The OP on this thread and those who subscribe to it just make me laugh.....they could not be further from the truth... but no matter....they don't want the truth because they can't imagine that it will ever happen.....did we imagine that the current situation would ever happen? Things can sneak up on you when you least expect them.....

Be careful of "famous last words syndrome"....

my rendition......quote me if you dare

you show up at the Door.....naked
you seem to have no other option so....
you raise your hand to knock

a Voice behind you says......NAY!
to knock on that Door is betrayal to Me....!!!!!

some people realizing the situation
will throw themselves upon the Door and plead an answer
others will draw up their composure and raise their hand a second time

NAY!.....

oh, sure.....knock and the Door will open
yeah....and They will let you in

BUT!....

will They not look you over?.....as They did Me
and will They not throw you OUT?
as They did ME...!!!

and then you will deal with ME...!!!

TRAITOR...!!!
