Haven't people have always constructed complex belief systems and religions based on nothing?

I recall a legend of a Christian potentate ruling a kingdom surrounded by heathens, a descendant of one of the magi of the nativity, that once enjoyed wide currency.

With regard to this comments that his ministry was too narrow, aside from Egypt, Jesus spent most of his adult life during ministry covering a 50 mile area. But he definitely covered it, and this area included no only Israel but Samaria and Syria as well as the Decapolis and Perea. He reacged out to not only Jews but outsiders. He was a Jew tho. His disciples eventually left behind even that, especially Peter.

You should actually read this. There are a ton of veiled nuances in this whole exchange, and while on the surface it sounds just like obeying Caesar, it actually condemns both Caesar and the priests.

Why would anyone dispute God or the authority he gave Christ to teach and lead? :)
