Jesus was not God, but the word of God

For a while i have been trying to figure out who Jesus was. People constantly say he was the lord, but after reading the bible recently i finally discovered who he was: the word of God. Jesus said he has been around since before the God made earth. I think that what he meant was that he was God's word, which was around before this universe was made. Finally, if Jesus is the word of God in human flesh, then the breaking of bread and wine finally makes sense. Jesus always used symbols to explain a meaning and the breaking of bread seems to be a symbol for eating his flesh. However, eating the Eucharist does not mean eat Jesus' body and an individual will be saved, but that eating the bread means that a person is eating the word of God and now the word of God is becoming one with the individual, who ate the Eucharist. the apostles ate the bread in order for the transformation of the word of God to blend with their bodies. This allows them to spread the word of God fully because the word of God is apart of them now. Does this seems right in your eyes or make any sense? please respond

Will to love
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood[a] it. 6There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.[b] 10He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent,[c] nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. 14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,[d] who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John thought that Jesus was God.

Welcome to the forum San Miguel

As a Muslim, I agree with you that Jesus, peace be upon him, was a word from God, as that's how he is described in the Qur'an

His birth from a mother without a father was a miracle, as God said (Be) and he was

That was God's word

Jesus was a human being, born by a miracle from God

Jesus was both a blessing and a curse. Just depends on the view and the view one holds will depend on the state of their heart.

There is much allegorical Truth in the picture and words of Jesus.. and in that, you *can* find the true Word. It depends on what you consider the ointment of choice for bringing to Life the true Word... he, Jesus, does point to what it is that brings the Word to Life. Once you do, you find the Messiah exists and always did.. but often image is to difficult to overcome.

Remember... Messiah is not the same as Saviour... Messiah is merely depicting the anointed and we must use the correct ointment from the correct vessel to activate the Messiah who will light the path of salvation!

Qura'an ch.5 "The Table"
[72] They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is the Messiah the son of Maryam." But said the Messiah
: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.

If you don't believe Qura'an at least lestin to the following verse
Mark 12:29
29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

the Word was God.
i think this statement meant that the word was perfect and God is perfect. This means that anyone who follows God's word completely will be perfect in the eyes of God. The part i was talking about that described eating the word was the symbolism behind Jesus breaking the bread with the apostles (aka now termed the Eucharist). Anyways i think when Jesus said this is my body, he truly meant that he (Jesus) obeys the word of God fully, which means every ounce of his body is dedicated to the word of God. This would mean when one goes to church and eats the Eucharist, then one is accepting they understand the word completely and obey it fully. however, i do not think people understand this concept Jesus was explain ning to his apostles since Jesus used deception to cloak the true meanings of his teachings. Mohammed beiruti: the statement you made makes absolute sense because people should only worship God because neither abraham, jacob, issac, jesus, or mohmmed created God, but God created them. So people should obey only God's word in order to seeks salvation and enter the kingdom of heaven. I don't mean to be disrespectful to anybody i just hope to better understand God's word.thank you all for listening

the Word was God.
i think this statement meant that the word was perfect and God is perfect.

By what principles would you deduce that? There is little reason to believe this means something other than what it says. The Son is Eternal Word, who, as St. Paul himself says "was in the form of God, but did not consider his equality with God as something to be exploited" (Philippians).

Dear San

If your saved...what does God call you? A son of god!

But how can that be? Your a MAN!!!!!

Its not your flesh that determines your identity, its the spirit inside of you.

Jesus was the son of god, because the spirit of Christ was in him.

The spirit of christ is the son of god. Now how is a son of god different to being god. It gets confusing when you think that there is only one god.

A human has a child...they call it human.

God has a child...its called god.

If you take a piece of dough and break a piece off...what is the broken off piece called? Its still called dough.

Jesus is god, like his father is god.

This makes perfect sense San Miguel.

The "Word", according to what I believe, isn't meant as a reference to anything written or said but is actually intended to represent the operative force of God, ie. His will, the means by which He creates and interacts with reality.

Eating the Eucharist is symbolic of submitting ourselves to the will of God, letting it, as you've said, become a part of us.

What about eating his flesh and drinking his blood.

He is the vine we are the branches. A branch grows out of the vine, it uses the atoms of the vine to grow. It does not grow out of nothing. It uses the 'flesh' of the vine to grow. We have to eat of the flesh of the vine, to grow. The flesh is the words of god. We live not by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of god.

The branches drink the juices of the vine. The sap of the vine. (the life blood of the vine) It uses it to sustain itself. It transports the nutrients in the branches. The juices are the life force of jesus. Its his life in us that make us alive unto god.

Also...when you take grapes off a vine, you murder the grapes by taking it of the vine. Then the juices is squeezed out. And it is used to make wine. When you drink the wine, you remember that jesus was murdered, his life poured out (squeezed out) for you, and this life now gives you life. Because even though that life was squeezed out of him, it was poured over into you. And as his father gave him new life, so he has given you new wine to drink.
