Kangaroo Feathers
Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
They're the Christian leaders you're so hot to throw in with. Maybe you should listen to them a bit more before trying to hitch your wagon to them, if this is news to you?source?

So like Star Wars or Friday? Seems a needlessly divisive qualifier to me, but OK. Thanks for the response.A Science Fiction story with a strong female protagonist.
What are you basing this comment on? You haven't seen any discussion of the spirit of the Law here, so I don't see what yardstick you are using to determine whether or not we are blinded by the letter of the Law. Are you just regurgitating the author of the book of Mark?It seemed very blinded to the spirit by the letter of the law to me. Hey, if that makes sense to you and is how you want to engage with your religion, more power to you. I wish you all the best.
My question, though, is what about people whose interest isn't in legalistic jots and tittles, but see things in a more "big picture" type way, and just want a 3rd Temple. What would you say to them?
no, I'm expressing my opinionWhat are you basing this comment on? A Temple created in a way that does not conform to G-d's stated Will, is how we got in trouble with the Golden Calf.
Your expressing your opinion based on an OP that doesn't deal with the half the content your opinion expresses?no, I'm expressing my opinion
People who claim that they can divide G-d's Will into important parts and unimportant parts have inflated egos.I understand that. Do you understand there are people who believe that building the Temple is the important part of "God's stated will" rather than complying with what they will claim are insignificant legal minutiae?
sorry, you lost me?Your expressing your opinion based on an OP that doesn't deal with the half the content your opinion expresses?
And you're entitled to believe so. That does not, however, address the issue that such people exist, whatever you think of their egos, so I reiterate my earlier question.People who claim that they can divide G-d's Will into important parts and unimportant parts have inflated egos.
Just restating the same thing as above. Your opinion on whether or not we are blinded to the spirit of the Law by the letter, appears to be based on a discussion that doesn't touch on the spirit of the Law. Which would make it a foolish basis for forming an opinion about it.sorry, you lost me?
I thought you were asking "what would I say to them" as you did above. Whether or not such people exist is irrelevant. They're either ignorant Jews or not Jews. And you're entitled to believe so. That does not, however, address the issue that such people exist, whatever you think of their egos, so I reiterate my earlier question.
uh-huhJust restating the same thing as above. Your opinion on whether or not we are blinded to the spirit of the Law by the letter, appears to be based on a discussion that doesn't touch on the spirit of the Law. Which would make it a foolish basis for forming an opinion about it.
so no true Scotsman? Ok.I thought you were asking "what would I say to them" as you did above. Whether or not such people exist is irrelevant. They're either ignorant Jews or not Jews.
So you see the problem.uh-huh
I didn't say that ignorant Jews not Jews. They can certainly be really Jewish. They're opinions simply don't count.so no true Scotsman? Ok.
The rolling green hills of Whales. Sounds peaceful. Are you going to be cool with the slaughter of a couple goats and sheep every day? Also can you take care of any permits? I'm not sure what you need to run a Temple, what with the slaughter and butchering, the fires and the smell. Probably a zoning law that will need to be worked out. There's a hill on the farm back in Wales. I can build a little temple just for you there @Tumah to keep you going in the interim. We'll call it the 2.5th Temple. I'll make a special annex where you can run your bagel business and a ten-storey building next door for you to keep your vast brood of children in.
Build it in New Zealand. Compared to what those people do to sheep and goats every day, slaughter would probably be considered a mercy. Are you going to be cool with the slaughter of a couple goats and sheep every day?
Nope.So you see the problem.
And yet they vote.I didn't say that ignorant Jews not Jews. They can certainly be really Jewish. They're opinions simply don't count.
Exactly who are these people? Can you provide some names? Do these people have an organization, or organizations, that espouses that position? Can you provide the name or names?Do you understand there are people who believe that building the Temple is the important part of "God's stated will" rather than complying with what they will claim are insignificant legal minutiae?
What does voting have to do with anything? I thought this conversation was about the building of a temple which reflects a theocratic system, not a democratic one.And yet they vote.
Blinded to the spirit.... by the letter of the law. Concerned only with "legalistic jots and tittles". We've been hearing that for 2,000 years. It seemed very blinded to the spirit by the letter of the law to me.....
My question, though, is what about people whose interest isn't in legalistic jots and tittles, but see things in a more "big picture" type way............
Not individually. Do you not think they exist? Messianic Jews tend to be into it, as do many American Evangelicals.Exactly who are these people? Can you provide some names? Do these people have an organization, or organizations, that espouses that position? Can you provide the name or names?
FIFY.Not individually. Do you not think they exist? Christians tend to be into it, as do many American Evangelicals.
Uh-huh. Who do you think these people expect to clear the current users of the site from it for them? What does voting have to do with anything? I thought this conversation was about the building of a temple which reflects a theocratic system, not a democratic one.
