Jews are not trying to build a Temple/synagogue on the Temple Mount

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
You have shown ignorance of Judaism and Jewish people by calling them blind legalist dogmatists; the 'blind' bit here being particularly insulting. It's a canard that has been levelled at Jews by Christians since there have been Christians, but it's nonsense and it needs to be put to bed.
Maybe you should read the entirety of my posts in context. I said no such thing about Jewish people.

Yes. Not about Jewish People.
Who do you think enforces these laws?

Anyway, at the risk of this going on and on and on, the tl;dr version is, saying 'blind to the spirit' and all the letter of the law stuff is an overused jibe thrown at Jews and it never comes across as well-meaning, or off-hand; it always sounds like anti-Jewish Christian drivel. Those connotations are never going to go away.

No one, as the laws we're discussing aren't currently being practiced.

And so when a Christian ACTUALLY thinks a Jewish person IS being blind to the spirit of the law, what would you like him to say?

Perhaps go into more detail and explain why you appear to have a problem with Jews following the letter of the law in the first place, and why you think it's your business to accuse someone, especially someone who sat in yeshivah for hours, of being 'blind to the spirit' anyway? And why your interpretation is more valid than his that you call him 'blind'?

You see how this is in general religious debates? How the OP started the thread for general discussion? If I were butting my way into a Jewish forum to tell Jewish people they're wrong, you'd have a point. But that's not what happened. I offered my opinion of someone else's opinion in a general discussion forum.

Look, I appreciate that there have been plenty of instances of over bearing Christians trying to explain Jewish religion to actual Jews, and I appreciate that's probably fairly frustrating. But when you race to take offense based on a stereotype, you're being just as bad as said Christians.

Offer a substantiated opinion without using tired phrases? You mentioned that it seemed blinded etc. and then launched into a discussion about what other people think, without explaining why you thought it was blinded.

A phrase initially made to critique Christian legalists, by the way.

So I ask again, what phrase would you like me to use, when the one I used is perfectly descriptive of my opinion?
