So, we can get away without accepting Jesus? Or that is a necessary condition? Why must I fear God if I am righteous?
I believe accepting Jesus role in God's purpose is part of doing what is right, as the context of Acts 10:34,35 clarifies (verse 43). Our reverential fear of God's awesome power serves to deter us from committing unrighteous acts. As Proverbs 16:6 says: "by fearing Jehovah one turns away from bad."

You're in luck. It is not possible to choose wrong, your choice will have no effect and is without meaning.

I think the millions who have perished at the hands of those who served their "Lord" belies that wrong choices have no effect. ISIS followers think they are serving god, for example.

Isis followers are serving a "god" every bit as much as you are.

Churchill: "Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?"
Socialite: "My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course..."
Churchill: "Would you sleep with me for five pounds?"
Socialite: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!" Churchill: "Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price”

Kinda the same story here.

Happily, that is not the case with the true God. I believe it is as the Bible says; "God is not partial, but in every nation the man who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him." (Acts 10:34,35)
seems to me.....God draws a line now and then....

like...
the man who fears Him and does what is right and is acceptable to Him

I think that is what you would expect of the true God, who is described as "upright....in whom there is no unrighteousness." (Psalm 92:15) I believe Jehovah accepts as his friends only those who seek to be righteous.(Psalm 15)

Why should it be fear rather than understanding?

A person may understand it is wrong to steal or murder someone. And many will avoid such crimes for that reason. But not all. The fear of retribution, especially when punishment is sure and certain, is a strong deterrent to those so inclined, IMO. Those who fear God fear such retribution, but they also fear disappointing their loving Father. I think such fear is proper and wise.

Interestingly enough, ISIS has just as much "evidence" for their god as you do for yours.
Thus begging the question, outside wishful thinking, what makes you right and them wrong?

I disagree with your assertion that ISIS has as much evidence for their god as there is for the true God. But that wasn't the point of my post anyway. The point made is that the god or lord we worship often has a tremendous impact on our life and conduct; such can cause immense harm or much good.

Disagree all you like, it does not change the fact that they have just as much "evidence" for their god as you have for yours.

Fair enough.

and so the difference between the law of Moses and the Golden Rule

an eye for an eye is retroactive
do unto the perpetrator as he did unto another

but of course, you then have two community members....blind in one eye

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.....is proactive
you first

apply grace

Oh, perhaps you do not know. I am enlightened. There is no death or birth for me. I am eternal. Star-dust. Brahman.
ok....I get the continuing existence thing.....

not buying the enlightened part

that comes after the last breath

Enlightenment is not something that one can buy. One has to work hard for it, leave prejudices and be fearless. That is not for all people. Weak-kneed people cannot traverse that road.
