They do not need to use the word separate when they claimed the girl were carried away and the correct states it was her mother carrying her instead.

But, it also accurately quotes the photographer as saying, “As soon as it was over, they were put into a van."

Yet the paragraph right above states "he watched agents carry away the screaming girl" which is what they corrected. Also toss in the fact that the refugee claim around them ended up being fake. Which goes right back to people abusing the law by crossing illegally then claiming asylum when caught as an excuse and to avoid deportation.

It is not "illegal" according to both international and our national laws if they truly are refugees, and ICE says that about half are.
