Justice Kennedy retiring

WOO !!! who! Kennedy just abstractly flipped off his colleges with that move! This is what terrified me about the last presidential election. If Clinton, the wildebeest from hell had won, she would have wasted no time in filling the Supreme Court with extreme leftist liberal minded justices. That would have sealed the fate of the USA pushing it to a socialist cesspool of a Marxist nation. .....Ain't gonna happen.....cause the witch is dead (meaning she lost the election)... But don't let your guard down my lovelies another election draws near.....

So, instead we're going to get it packed by far right wing conservatives. This way, the country gets pulled into the cesspool of bigotry and hatred of minorities. The next election is likely to late to save this nomination (after the last justice was stolen from the Dems).

So, yes, what terrified me about the last election is actually coming to pass. We're going to lose 60+ years of advancement and head straight into destruction.

The Supreme Court is only one branch of the government, and "conservative" judges have been known to take their oaths very seriously once they get up to the Supreme Court level. They are looking at being judged by posterity and most of them are not idiots. I am going to keep my optimism up. We will still advance, though probably at a slower rate.

No you worry far too much. I think the hate speech claims are far overblown and without facts. Its fabricated. But I get it. Its popular to hate white old protestant conservatives, hell, none of the girls will like you if you say anything positive about the president etc. It seems most of the protesters (I am speaking about the general right wing hate protests)don't even know what they are protesting! They come across with some vague bull**** that is painful to watch. But again I get it. Its fun to loot and fight. Its fun to kill cops, just pick one out, it doesn't matter if he or she has never drew their service piece. What pure unadulterated bull****. But I get it. If it weren't for the evil element (those old rich leftest cowards) that pay even dumber punks to throw bottles and rocks and to create riots out of protests it would not be so serious. But it is, and the Soros's types are hoping for the most pain and blood possible, they live to destroy so one day they can pick up the pieces.

I am casually wondering if Trump is close to impeachment?

Impeachment is an extreme occurrence. How can one casually consider an extreme?
Agreed. The word "impeachment" is just a dream to soften the blow to those who lost an election. It's being spoken about Rosenstein as well. Maybe even the AG.

Rather than taking the Maxine Waters path, it would be much better if the Dems showed themselves willing to help move the country into a path that appears to be working. Like tax cuts. Just being "anti" is not a good message, especially when you're anti what Americans are benefiting from.

This new little girl from NY that's a socialist touts a good story. Free schooling, universities, health care, etc for everyone. Nothing is free. People (doctors, teachers) don't work for free, and the money has to come from somewhere. She seems to think the government will pay for it. The government is broke. The people pay for the government. So the people (that work) pays for all those "free things". I've successfully paid to put 4 kids through college. Now she wants me to pay for others peoples kids? Seeing the way the universities are creating kids like Antifa makes me want to have control over who and which child "I" want to put through college.

Karl Marx sounds nice, but never works, as those like the USSR found out. And China as well as they move towards a capitalistic model.

Talk is cheap. Capitalism has been proven. People need to quit daydreaming and get off of their a$$es and work their dreams.

Just my thoughts.

Pence would be worse. At least with his incompetence Trump might nominate a reasonable judge.
I agree that Pence would be worse, but incompetence isn't a factor.
Nominees are all typically reasonable. Their differences are primarily
in agenda & orientation. We like or dislike them based upon whether
these: living document types with a progressive agenda, strict
constructionist types with a conservative agenda, etc, etc.
So either Trump or Pence would appoint someone reasonable,
but the question is whose "reasonable"? Trump looks to be less
risk for wanting a theocrat.

Could you supply the citation? Because that makes no sense. You are also mis-characterizing McConnell’s position. It was to not hold SC nomination hearing just before a Presidential election with a lame duck a Presidential in office. That doesn’t apply at this time.
You forgot the biggest difference: Obama had a (D) next to his name and this time the President has an (R).

How about a court full of moderates? Wouldn't that make the most sense? Just professional judges, free of partisanship or politics, doing their job and interpreting rulings through the lens of the Constitution?

I do not understand why anyone would want all branches of government to be one-sided. In doing so, you're literally rooting for an end to checks and balances...
Exactly. It is a huge problem that the SCJs are seen as partisan operators rather than as extremely well-versed and unprejudiced arbiters of what the law states. They should be a trusted institution, above party politics. Instead they’ve been dragged down into the mud with the rest of the politicians.

Unfortunately, it seems that the justices themselves have embraced the partisan mantle. It wasn’t always the case:

“Modern justices seem to often vote in ideological alignment with the party of the President that appointed them. This phenomenon is relatively new. In the past, the party of the appointing President did not predict a justice’s votes. Twentieth century justices Earl Warren, William Brennan, and Harry Blackmun all leaned liberal despite being appointed by Republican Presidents. Now, these types of justices have become extinct. In the 2014–2015 term, virtually every 5–4 decision the Court gave out was split perfectly along party lines. This, combined with the increase in 5–4 decisions, is an indicator of just how partisan the Supreme Court has become.” -Stanford
