Loving God and my neighbor as myself.
Yes. Immigrants are automatically given Medi-Cal. The normal financial income level necessary to get Medi-Cal is extremely low, so most people who cannot afford healthcare on their own also do not qualify for Medi-Cal. I had a dear friend who was diabetic and needed insulin to live. She worked full time as a construction supervisor. Her salary was not high enough for her to afford insulin on her own, yet too high to qualify for Medi-Cal. So she died. DIED.Are you saying the immigrants get free healthcare and that other Californians don't?
We had a good year last year. One good year does not mean the drought has ended. As of July 3, state reservoirs stand at about 84% capacity. That’s above the 30-year average of 66% for the month of July. The largest user of water is agriculture.
Yes, I realize that most of the water is used by agriculture in the central valley. But the water shortage effects ordinary people throughout the state. There are laws limiting how much we can wash our cars, fill pools, and water our lawns, which make it impossible to do things like have green grass. And of course the COST of our water has skyrocketed due to basic supply and demand and the excuse that higher prices will reduce consumption.
Very simply: too many people, not enough electricity. Our infrastructure simply has not been updated to adjust for the growing population, with energy companies unwilling to build necessary new plants. For example, instead of building more nuclear facilities, we have been closing them down. Solar and wind are not reliable. In particular, electricity from solar drops in the evenings, but the heat doesn't. Drought has reduced hydroelectric power production, which makes up a significant portion of California's electricity. Energy companies also have not done needed repairs to aging infrastructure which means that sometimes they simply fail, causing blackouts. What is causing the power outages in California?
When you add the energy and water crises to the housing crisis and traffic congestion, it's just made California awful. I know this may sound harsh, but we need a lot more people to leave the state rather than come here. Although illegal immigration is a problem here, so is immigration from other states. I want the bumper sticker that says, "Welcome to California. Now go home."
