Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy

Wow, it is amazing what people will say over just a few little words.

In remembering the man who was commanded to be stoned to death for picking up sticks on the Sabbath, I am certainly thankful that today we do not abide by the same laws that were practiced in the laws of Moses, however that story does kind of tell me how big of a deal keeping the Sabbath Day holy is to God.

In reply to the question of things to do on the Sabbath Day, I look at the Sabbath Day as a day to really make an effort, more than any other day to try to direct my thoughts towards God and all he has done for me. The Sabbath Day is an excellent day for me to spend time with my family, tell stories, write in my Journal and reflect on my week and how the Lord has blessed me. The Sabbath is also a day that I enjoy spending a little more time than I do on most days studying the scriptures. The Sabbath Day is also a day I really enjoy getting to know my neighbors a little better, find out what I can do to help them and help them, and visit the lonely and really go out of my way to share my testimony with others (in a caring, polite, no bashing kind of way)

Sounds like a lot of work.

Just a thought, what about figuring Saturday from Exodus [16v1] when they left Egypt on the 15th day of the 2nd month [1513 BCE].
Verses 22,23 Moses announces a Sabbath after the 6th day.

the days of the week in a certain month vary year to year in the jewish calender (like our own). do you know exactly what year that scripture was written>

Uh-uh. You misunderstand. I just wanted to establish that Constantine had zero status with God. The correct day is still Sunday.

Why is Sunday the correct day, with scriptural backing.

Where does the scripture say "And thus by his ressurection the Sabbath was changed to Sunday"?

No one knows what day he was buried exactly, he could have risen DURING Sabbath, and they only noticed on "The Lord's day" which is not the same as "Sabbath day".

"True Christians observe it today (Matt 24:20) and everyone will observe it in the millenium (Isa 66:23)."

If Christians agree that Isaiah 66 takes place after the events of the suffering servant's ordeal in 53, they should take note that "Those who eat the flesh of swine" will be left to die.

According to the gospels he was buried shortly before the sabboth day and found to be risen just before daylight on the day after the sabboth day.

This is why I do not consume unclean foods as outlined in Lev 11 Deut 14..

These are civil laws applied to daily living in Israel. Because modern society and culture are so radically different from that time and setting, all of these guidelines cannot be followed specifically. But the principles behind the commands are timeless and should guide our conduct.

In 2 Cor 3:7-11, Paul does away with the administration of the death penalty in the NT church (spiritual Israel). It was originally instituted to show physical Israel the result of wrong conduct. It was part of the law code which was "added because of transgressions" (Gal.3:9). The administration of death, as well as the sacrificial laws, were "added" to God’s immutable, spiritual laws-of which the ten commandments are the basis. But the administration of death was only to last "till the seed (Christ) should come."
