Last time you went to church?

Every time I hear a situation like yours, I truly feel so incredibly lucky. I'm 12 minutes away, and we used to walk over a couple of times a year. Today I went twice ... to 'work' ... board requested I build 6 more wooden benches. Next week grass watering starts. There are 4 temples closer than that one, but of different variety than I most enjoy.

Boss and I were reminiscing about the Omaha temple this morning. Such nice interior architecture it has.
You are very lucky!

I felt bad about that last one... I was disappointed myself, but it really stunk that the kids had to miss it. "Want green and red face" Ares kept saying in the car.

There's some temples near Chicago I'd like to stop in on, but I'll wait until the kids are older for that.

Can you tell me about the last time you went to church or similar thing? Was it last Sunday? Last Easter? Or was it many years ago?
I went to the Abode at Isha in Tennessee back on Holi of this year to meditate.

The last puja I attended was the Durga Puja on October 8, 2017 at the Vedanta Society of Cleveland.

The last time I was in a church, if memory serves, was to attend a funeral for an employee's relative. It was a Greek Orthodox service.

I don't go to temples often because I don't do worship. I find meditating in front of the items on my shrine to be much more practical.

What's the difference between the two denominations?
Methodist is mainline Protestant and Baptist is Evangelical. But both Protestant.

There are some differences in doctrine regarding baptism, salvation, communion and church organization. But mainly, Baptists are much, much more fundamentalist, conservative and selectively anti-science.

It is the latter three that have lead me to consider going back to the Methodists.

I learned high school biology from a Methodist lay speaker that had a PhD in zoology. They are much more science friendly.

They are. Not only was my grandfather a science-friendly Methodist but also I learned maths for chemistry from a Methodist lay preacher who was the man who coined the expression “God of the Gaps” : Charles Coulson - Wikipedia

Last time I went, a few years ago, the whole entire world of humanity went to Hell in a handbasket, came to a screeching halt and was flipped upside down and inside out.

I’m glad to hear you are doing that. I have the impression you risk being a bit isolated.
Yes, I realized I was too isolated and I also realized I needed to be in a group where people are going through similar losses.
At this time, I am not in the mood to socialize with slap-happy people who don't understand how I feel.

I'm sure that's wise and hope it lifts your spirits, given time - one has to be patient. I'm only just regaining momentum in my own life, 6 years after my wife died. It has taken me this long to feel like getting on with the many house maintenance projects that are needed. Somehow such things are a lot harder to get motivated to do, when one is not building a shared life and there is no one who will say what an improvement it is when it's done. But now I've had the living room redecorated, the floor tiles fixed to get rid of the big crack across them, and the brickwork at the front of the house cleaned and repointed. And I've now just had my heart op, to try to fix the arrhythmia that has been bothering me for the last 5 years. Too soon to tell if it has worked, but it gives me a sense of moving forward rather than stagnating or declining. And I've found the women I know are queuing up to call on me to see how I am and bring me little presents, which is very gratifying.

And it's spring! :)

What! I used to see those commercials as a kid! I am 72, you are 38 and you know about those commercials? Are they still playing those?

That's my wife Sara with me, by the way, in my avatar.
I wondered if that was your wife. :)

They played the Trix rabbit commercials when I was a kid. I don't know if they do now. We don't really watch TV. Actually, we took the TV down last year; previous to that it hadn't been turned on in about a year. Why waste the space?

Yesterday.
Lifelong Catholic. Fell away for awhile, came back, feels like home but I can't seem to find the certitude I once had. Going through the motions. Muscle memory. Hoping the peace and faith come back to where it used to be.
That’s not a bad description of my attendance either. But I like it and I feel it does me good.
