Latest nanny state socialist Democrat passes bag ban in Albuquerque New Mexico.

I don't have a problem with this.

Makes no sense to create an item that takes between 10-1,000 years to decompose, based on the type of soil it's in and other variables, just to have a 1 time use that only last a few minutes.

I like how Aldi does it in Germany. They sell cloth bags right at the counter. So if you haven't gotten around to getting set up on cloth grocery bags yet, they are right there. About 2 Euros a piece iirc, reusable for years and significantly less impact on the environment as even when they become unusable, cloth decomposes much quicker (in about 5-6 months).

This is available in Oregon and I use it. Those cloth bags are durable and do not seem to tear open.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
How is environmental responsibility "socialist"? You really need to stop misusing and abusing that term. It makes you look lazy and uneducated.
It goes way further than the bag issue.

This has everything to do with the socalist Democrats need to place controls on what people do, what people eat, what people say and more using the power of the state to force conformity and subjugation to whatever policy they deem fit.

This takes away peoples choice, this takes away peoples freedoms, which are disappearing at an alarming rate with each compulsory act the socialists Democrats pass.

The least free states in the entire country are the socialist Democrat States of California and New York.

Wait till everyone is forced to use them.

Of course socialist Democrats never really had any ability for proper foresight in anything that they force on to people. As long as they can control your life, they're happy.

Just watch, years down the road they'll ban cloth bags on people too. If you survive food-borne illnesses that will undoubtedly happen as a result of their incompetence, lust for control, arrogance, and shear stupidity.

Or you could toss them in the washing machine.

What about speed limits? Or fines for littering? They limit people's choices on how to drive or dispose of their waste. What if someone doesn't want to wear clothes around your children? What about their freedom?

I miss rolling mercury around in my hand. Aaah, the good old days. It’s magical.

..of course gallium is almost as cool.
I remember doing that. Too bad that they banned it.

Hey! You know what I just remembered? Playing with mercury. . . . I wonder what happened to it.

And DDT. Damned socialist tyranny keeping us from having the freedom to choose the insulation and pesticide we want! Let's express our outrage by plastering bumperstickers all over our liftkitted, coal rolling pickup trucks.

I do honestly think the outrage on DDT was overplayed.

The point is, when something poses a significant harm or danger to others or to the world itself, the responsible thing it to limit people's "choice", "freedom". You wouldn't abolish laws against drunk driving, even though you're limiting peoples choice and freedom. Freedom and responsibility go hand in hand.

Perhaps when you are not so upset?

And as to plastics as a pollutant, AGW is not our only concern. With plastics there are far too many in the oceans, especially the Pacific ocean right now. Most of those come from Asia, but it is all but impossible to tell other countries to clean up their act of we are not doing anything about the problem.

I don't care about the bags as much as seeing people have their freedoms stomped on by the power of the Socialist state.
Or perhaps you have that so-called derangement syndrome and simply look for things to be outraged about no matter how minute or trivial, like the right's version of a SJW.
