It's the Socialist Democrats that are obsessed with banning just about everything under the sun. I hope the poor Socialist Democrats can use the opportunity to address their completely out of control impulse to ban everything in sight and the need to completely control peoples personal preferences and choices in this country.

It's not really an American Political issue though...many countries have banned them already.
I get that you probably see them all as socialist states, and the Republican party as the last bastion of freedom or something, but it just sounds kinda strange to hear plastic bags being trumpeted as a signal of the creeping Democratic Party control agenda.

It is a policy that has been introduced all around the world by political parties from right across the political spectrum. Here on RF it has support right across the political spectrum from actual socialists (not centre left Dems) to libertarians.

Both of my parents died due to not being able to pay 5p per plastic bag once the plastic bag ban hit the UK, and I'm absolutely certain that your only concern - and, naturally, it is a paramount concern - is for the people of Albuquerque to have free access to plastic bags. Your outrage is not at all motivated by a (some may say pathological) desire to completely blow out of proportion any and all actions taken by people you view as your political opponents and to mindlessly spew conspiratorial nonsense about something that it completely and totally 100% harmless.

Well I suppose now this will set up the next round of banning by saying the paper bags are causing mass tracks of deforestation all over again, so I suppose all I need to do is wait and plastic bags will come back in an answer to the deforestation issues raised by paper bags.

Of course this absolutely has nothing to do about taking away freedom and control of people's personal lives and choices not to mention grabbing a little tax 'revenue' on the side.
