what sort of punishment do rapists deserve?
i think they should be castrated
we cannot possibly imagine what sort of trauma a rape victim has to undergo for the rest of her life, it would only be fair that the rapists be scarred as well, physically mutilated, a reminder of their deed.

god knows how many more rapes go unreported in india specially in rural areas.
especially since the police are so useless in cities

Some countries do use chemical castration as a means of controlling some types of sexual-offence convicts.

My wife works at a veterinary surgery where they use large tong-type instruments to geld horses. She reckons they would work just fine on rapists.

That is just so twisted and wrong.

I don't support torture or inhumane treatment for anyone, even those that are guilty of it themselves.

But due to the brutal nature of the crime, it seems completely unreasonable to me that any of them should ever be in society again. Either life in prison, or the death penalty depending on whether India's penal system can physically and legally ensure that people locked up, stay locked up.

IMO the fact that one of them is an older teenager shouldn't make a difference in his sentencing.

The victim was passed out from drinking and the boys raped her and urinated on her. One of the guys didn't rape her but took pictures of her assault and made fun of her rape on twitter.
