I agree some are just bigots. However, my points of contention are the transition of children and the expectation for others to lie about who they are. I will call someone anything they want to be called but I will not lie and say that a trans woman/man is the same as a woman/man. I don't care unless they make a big deal out of it or are harming others such as in women's sports etc.
Then you define people by their body parts, not their personalities. I tend to take a higher view -- above the waist, at least.

Up hear in Canada, there's not much going on with respect to LGBTQ issues. That's right, since 2005, when we won the right to marry, the fuss was pretty much over. The Federal Government is not making any noise about retracting any of our rights, nor are the provinces, nor the municipalities. Courts aren't engaged in LGBTQ issues either, per se. Our Supreme Court hasn't issued a veiled threat that we might be next on its agenda. It's done.

But I'll tell you, it does appear to me to be very different down there in the Excited States, with state after state (usually red) rushing headlong into battle against drag, trans, libraries, schools on matters of sexuality. As is so often the case, with losing parties, they seem to have picked an enemy that they can frighten their huddled masses with.

And so, of course, that enemy is forced to fight back.

In other words, if the right in the US were not trying to demonize LGBTQ communities, those communities would probably be going on about the business of living their lives quietly, as we more typically do up north.
US also backslides a lot in comparison to our neighbors in the North. Previously won battles can be re-fought and lost. (See: abortion.) And there are most certainly still conservative politicians using trans battles as water testing and wedge building to go after gay marriage, discrimination protection, adoption etc again.

They do live in peace, no one bothers them until they demand to be called a woman for etc.
Not in America. The governor of Florida is persecuting them for political purposes.
don’t ask people to actually say yes you are a woman.
No transexual ever asked me to call her a woman, but then I never tried to tell one that she wasn't a woman.

No, I will define them however they want to be defined but I will not lie about reality. I will call them whatever pronoun they want and let them live their lives, but if they ask me to agree with them I will not. A transwoman and a person born as a woman are physically different.

I don't want **** at this point, except for everyone to STFU, including "the community". There was really nothing left to fight for after gay marriage. Now it's just far-left radical deconstructionist poison and faux-victimization. I have nothing to do with that.

Why do you have have such strong feelings about other people's identity?
Because we are being forced to play along with peoples delusions.
The truth is being pushed aside, science is being put aside to appease a persons fantasy.
Now it’s being pushed onto our children, the community is attempting to poison the mind of the youth.
Look at any queer event, always dressed and acting in a perverted manner.

I recall that trans people were largely banned from serving in the military, per a Trump-era policy, until 2021:

Also, wouldn't you say that there's a distinction between legal and social rights? For example, even if same-sex marriage is legal, I'm presuming that the legality doesn't stop certain people from heavily discriminating against LGBT people based on social or cultural attitudes, especially if they think they can get away with it and not be caught by, say, an anti-discrimination law. In my opinion, effecting large-scale social change to minimize discrimination can be even harder than legally enshrining rights and protections for any given group.

It seems to me that the current risk of reversal that the same-sex marriage SCOTUS ruling faces, among other things, indicates latent attitudes among officials and a part of the public that have been there for many years and definitely haven't gone away just because of the extension of legal rights for LGBT people.

There is no "right" to serve in the military, just like there's no right to be on a sports team. You either meet the requirements or you don't. I sure as hell don't; they don't let mentally ill people join the services.

Do you think all trans folks are mentally ill and can't serve in the military?

My friend seems to be doing fine in her career path of choice. Would have done fine in the militaru too had that option not been taken away. It used to exist before that point
