This is an issue of such complexity that anyone claiming to have any idea how it will turn out is full of crap. Some of the basic (and I mean only some, and only the basic) questions are:

With Iran dumping oil into the global reserve again, and having $100B in new funds released as foreign accounts are unfrozen, what happens to oil prices? The cleaner climate people are saying the prices already too low, as low oil means less investment in green technology. Did we just blow up the planet on carbon emissions?

The Saudis are very unhappy about this, and are making thinly veiled threats to begin their own nuclear program. What happens to the US-Saudi relationship, which right now is the only stable ME-West relationship going, if the Saudis feel threatened enough by Iran to take any kind of action whatsoever?

This deal only limits Iran from enriching enough uranium for a bomb for 10 years. Will we see some kind of resurgence in 2025? Is this just a political move to push the problem down the road, or had the US come up with a plan for future negotiations?

How does this affect the Iran-Russia relationship? Will the Russians come to see this as a direct attempt to limit their influence in the region?

I'm certain it will turn out well, with Iran becoming our ally & a beacon of peace & progressive governance.

All are interesting side effects of decreasing US influence. Interesting questions, all; and the world is a complex living system. Military buildup is like when the world has twisted its ankle, and its gotten swollen. All the military buildup is like the swelling of the world's ankle, and there needs to be put some ice on it. In the meantime the ankle hurts and is all messed up. If it continues to be swollen the damage to the ankle worsens, and it takes longer for the world to go back to work. Of course we also have to stay off the ankle for a while, which I guess could be interpreted to mean that we have to pause for a bit and not progress forward too quickly.

Personally, I can hardly wait for USA (my country) to disentangle itself from all the responsibilities picked up in 1947-1948. Its time to decrease US overseas influence, so we can start being a country and not a dominant (paranoid) world power. We can't do that if we keep making ourselves responsible for every other country that exists.
I agree. I haven't been following this that closely for a while, but I must say I saw someone speaking for Israel on CNN as I came out of the shower this morning (shut up, @Wirey ) who made me want to throw myself down the stairs, because there's no hope, we're all gonna die within the next year.

I've been watching CNN off and on all morning, and I can only assume that you are exaggerating for effect.

That seemed uncalled for. Words, hurt, Marisa. Words hurt.
