Lincoln Project Admits it Sent Fake White Nationalists to Republican Rally

Considering all the supposed "White supremacists" that are around every corner, under every bed nibbling at ones toes, and coming for your children one would not think it necessary to invent them. This playacting with social and political fire is disingenuous, divisive, and undermines democracy, shame on them.

"The anti-Republican political action committee The Lincoln Project claimed responsibility Friday for a stunt in which activists dressed up as tiki torch-carrying white nationalists in a bid to link Virginia GOP gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin to racist views."

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Now I'm wondering who really invaded the Capitol. Real right wing nutcases, or real left wing nutcases posing as real right wing nutcases?

Your dubious source demonstrates its unreliability in the first sentence. The Lincoln Project is a pro-Republican organization. Why believe any other nonsense they post when they fail immediately?

And your second source was far more accurate. There was no attempt to fool people with "fake white nationalists". Do you understand that?

“Today’s demonstration was our way of reminding Virginia voters of what happened in Charlottesville four years ago, the Republican party’s embrace of those values, and Glenn Youngkin’s failure to condemn it,” the group said."

While it's a largely a Republican organization, they're
also pro-Democrat, & even praised by them.

I have no problem with that. Ideally neither party should look at the other as being the enemy. Occasionally the two parties have disagreed but managed to work together. That is when the two party system actually works. But it has been a while. The last time that it happened for an extended period of time was the last term of Clinton's Presidency. I did not like the man due to his constant lying. Mostly on minor manners, and now completely eclipsed by Trump. But he did get both parties to work together under his watch.

FWIW, I oppose the kind of deception decried in the OP.

I doubt if anyone was deceived by people playing dress up. But it does raise the question of how much is too much? The people playing the role of fake white nationalists would never be conflated with the real thing since they were mixed race and mixed sexes.

I too do not like parodies on the campaign trail. But that is no excuse to report dishonestly about them.

Just one black guy in the photo.
And white nationalism knows no gender.
So parody could easily be seen as serious.

Sure about that?

Looks to me as though this was a stunt to remind people that Youngkin had egregiously failed to condemn the neofascist rally in 2017. So Youngkin had already "linked" himself to it and they didn't want to let people forget it.

Good to see there are still people in the Republican party who oppose the fascist direction of travel of the party since Trump.

Do you think context matters and would you condemn any who creates a false narrative?
