Love the sin - hate the sinner

Heh, just being clever.

Since LHP involves rebelliousness, wouldn't the saying be changed to "Love the sin - hate the sinner"? I don't see why you would hate the sinner, maybe something relevant to what the guy in the S.I.N said: "I hate everyone equally".

What do you think?

A) I don't think the LHP involves rebellion. I don't regard Thelema as being as much LHP as many do, but as such, Thelema is an affirmation of Self and of one's own True Will or role in this current lifetime.

B) It's not my responsibility and none of my business what other people choose to do with their lives, therefore, I don't give a damn what "sin" someone else commits, nor do I revel in the concept of "sin" in the slightest. It's largely a Christian idea meant to control and manipulate people into being so fearful that they'll support churches.

"Every man and every woman is a star."
" Sin is restriction."

As a proverbial quip it is ironically and humorously succinct. :D

As for 'hate the sinner',
'sin' and 'sinner' are concepts put forth by particular religions.

All to say 'I am not effected/restricted by your concepts'.
(they do not rule me at all, and do not appeal to me in general)

Iunno... I was speaking of Sin in generosity of whatever religion's morals you follow. But you have a good point though.

From what I understand "sin" is human disobedience of the "Will of God". Since I don't believe in "God" per se I therefore do not believe in "sin". Though I might at times use the term in some off handed remark such as ending this post with...

Sin seriously, :bat:

Slightly amusing, but I make no distinction between the doer and the deed, so it doesn't work for me.

I think he was trying to say that he treats everyone equally but was making a joke knowing him a tiny bit from a number of his videos.

I agree.

Kill em' all. [my new catch phrase ]

Could just as well go with "love the sin, love the sinner". In my opinion it's a silly saying to start with.

What does it say of someones mastery of life if they comment: "I hate everyone equally?" To what advantage does making such a statement give? It rather reflects the lack of understanding of the nature of the left hand path and reduces the uttering fool to a basement dweller.

There are people whom make great friends, and those that make great enemies. There are also enemies masquerading as friends... Only a simpleton could reduce all of these people to one thing. :) There are a lot of ideological zombies shambling about these days on the internet and you would do yourselves well to filter them out of your existence. They are stupid, weak, and classless and only seek to take others down with them so they don't feel so depressed about their nature. To regret something is to die. If you aren't focused on living in the now you are removed from it.

It's an "antithesis" kind of thing.

You know, like an upsidedown cross.

You turn the saying on it's head,
and as I said before,
it actually works in a humorously ironic way.
(from the angle I'm reading it at, anyway)

I have nothing to do with that particular saying.

nope. sin and sinner. neither do I.

And while I do enjoy turning things over and around
and sideways and everywhich way
to see what they show from different angles,
I find the fixation on turning christian things upsidown
silly, childish, 'tired' ... and well... cliche.

occasionally though, something turns out amusing.
