It was on fire when I laid down on it.
That's sooo stupid. Almost anything can be used as a weapon maybe they should watch 'Slingblade' then they will ban lawn mowers too. Idiots.

"Whatchoo doin' with that lawnmower blade, boy?"

"Ah aim to kill you with it."

Crazy, considering you have to be 18 to buy a knife in the UK. Should defiantly be more restrictions on internet sales of these sort of things.

Nah, it's the responsibility of the parents. You know, the ones who brought the snot-nosed little ******** into the world and who are supposed to be raising, teaching and disciplining them.

You have to be 18 to buy a kitchen knife in the UK? How about other pointy or bladed tools -- files, pointing trowels, window tools, chisels? Are hardware stores effectively off limits to minors in the UK?

It just strikes me as impossible to restrict everything with weapons potential. A Bic pen could easily be used to stab someone through the heart.

Kitchen knives are 16. I have no problem with under 18s using knives with parental permission but to buy one themselves no. By knives I don't mean kitchen implements I mean large blades.

And exactly what is the difference? I have seen kitchen knifes larger than my Bowie knife. And high quality kitchen knifes come much sharper than most other general purpose blades you can buy.

By the time I was 15 I was allowed to carry a sheath knife and 22 rifle out in the woods by myself. What's the big deal?
Same here. Me and my friends went camping one day and we all brought along our shot guns with a 24 pack of coke to use as target practice. It was just a bunch of 15 year olds out in the woods with guns, fire and knifes. We should have taken pictures and sent them to the authorities in London. They would have **** a brick.:D

Giving guns to a 15 year old? I think that is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Oh and Apex if those swords are replicas then the police would be knocking at your door with a set of handcuffs ready.

Why? We had taken gun safety lessons and most of us had been shooting for years by that point. We knew how to be safe with firearms and still have fun, even at 15.

Oh and Apex if those swords are replicas then the police would be knocking at your door with a set of handcuffs ready.
Just one more reason I shall never be able to live there, sadly.

I wonder, if I grabbed a random piece of scrap metal and sharpened one edge, would that be illegal?

I'm glad I don't live in the US, you are all so in love with your guns.

I guess it is just two completely different cultures.

We are not in love with guns, they are just a part of life here. I only own one. Many people here do not even own a gun but have shot one before. We simply do not overreact when we see someone responsibly using a firearm.

Oh, and Panda, what did you mean by "replicas"? It would make sense to me that replicas would be legal, being fake, and real swords would not be legal, is this not the case?

By replica I mean a cheap copy. They were recently made illegal in order to combat gang violence. The expensive authentic swords are perfectly legal because they are virtually all only owned by martial art experts or collectors.
