Madnesss: WAS JESUS INSANE ?

Yes, the Last Prophet will appear. He will leade our disabled people to Heaven, where they will encounter an experience of being high for eternity.

The Squares will go to Hell, where they will exchange their normality for disability. They will suffer for eternity, being bereft of sanity, mobility, intellectual disabilities and will suffer forever.
Sounds good to me, but what about the Mormons lol.

Even though they will deny it, for that time, YOU WERE. People don't understand mental illness. It's not necessarily being ill, it's more like being sucked into a different REALITY. The world changes, you SEE things you weren't aware of and often, your AMAZED.
Religion is like mental illness. There the animal level and their is the higher level, The animal level doesn't understand morality. The higher level, the level of counciousness BURSTS on you and your bedazzled by the glow of God. Your eyes are BLINDED by the Light, and for that time, as brief as it is, tme has no meaning. Life has no meaning. Space has no meaning.
You stand at the pinnacle of human experience. And for that time, that brief, brief time, your existence is joyful. JOY ! Savor it. Enjoy it. Soon you have to return to the slum of living an animal existence.
Yes I like that, and you have to be out of your mind to get it, for the mind only gets in the way.

I have made the statement that Jesus was mentally ill. I base my statement on this:

Say Jesus was alive today, 2015. And say he was making statements that he was God, he created the universe, e.t.c. Now my question: WHERE WOULD HE BE ?

Answer: A MENTAL HOSPITAL

Those statements, made in modern times, probably would lead Jesus to a 72 hour hold in a mental hospital. The psychiatrist more than likely would diagnose him with Bipolar Disorder.

I understand there are people that would disagree with me. If you are going to say that Jesus was mentally well, what do you base that on ? Emotion ? Emotion does not work on logical principles. Faith ? Faith eshews using reason and universal principles to judge people. If Jesus was your BROTHER, would you ENCOURAGE his delusions or try to restore him to sanity ?

YOU DECIDE.

It would be great if you actually knew what you were talking about before trying to debate a concept you literally have no clue about.

Jesus never claimed to be god. He never claimed to create anything.

You know Christianity CLAIMS he does. In fact, Jesus used the name of God in reffering to himself. Tne name of God in the OT is YHWH. He uses that name when he says " I AM the bread of life; I AM the light". YHWH literally means "I AM WHO I AM", commenting on his existence. In fact, he was crucified for blasphemy, BECAUSE he said he was God. The Jews understood that to be impossible because the Torah says "Hear O Israel, the Lord thy God is One". I.E, NO ONE alive can claim to be God. Jesus made that claim, and was crucified BECAUSE he made the claim to be God.

Yet ...
So, you're either lying to yourself, to us, or both.

Unlike you, I actually participate in the conversation instead of just hurling baseless insults at everyone. As a matter of fact, I have yet to see you respond in any thread where you actually contributed something useful to that thread. Why don't you try that for a while instead of embarrassing yourself with your little cheap shots.

Getting back on topic...if he existed, I do not think he was insane.

Show us where they make that claim that Jesus called himself god.

Jesus never wrote a word, so factually he did not.

So later authors who never knew him, gave him divinity. That does not mean he said anything reported in the NT as you suggest.

Well your wrong again, you need to learn what your talking about before debating. Your lost here.

El is used as well as Elohim, as well as El Shaddai, as well as Yahweh Saboath.

Israelites were Polytheistic and worshipped a family of gods.

I see you found a mirror, and your own reflection is evident
No. In our faith, when we feel the prescensce of Satan, we meditate on the Holy Words. I was blocking the evil things you were saying, invoking the Holy Words and meditating on them. Very effective when Satan tries to use us or tries to influence how we think.

Well, you really do need to establish the a historic Jesus actually said those things, rather than them being attributed to him by later authors. Only in that case could you have any basis for claiming insanity.

Then you need to take into account that people did think about the world in other ways than we do today. For instance the use of myth in stories was seen as acceptable rather than abnormal. Narratives were constructed differently.

lUmm..he let himself be CRUCIFIED ? He almost BEGGED to be CRUCIFIED. Do you have ANY IDEA what a crucifxtion is like ? The pain ? Your body wracked with suffering ? You struggling even to BREATHE on the cross ? Not smart.

Not a convincing argument, most forms of execution back then involved pain and suffering (and many forms did so until relatively recently). In addition people being willing to suffer for sincerely held beliefs is not a symptom of insanity (although the underlying belief may be) and not uncommon if you examine history.

And yet we don't actually know if he said any of the things the stories in the Bible says he did.
