MAGA Judge Blocks Overtime Pay for 4 Million Salaried Employees

A federal judge in Texas has blocked a new rule from the Biden administration that would have expanded access to overtime pay to millions more salaried workers across the U.S.

Yep. Most salaried people are management anyways alteady making good money. Not like workers who are woefully underpaid in comparison to their management.

Anyways the distinction between salary and hourly is pretty straightforward. It's been like this as far as I can remember.

Salaried managers get taken advantage of too. One I worked close with, he was the top manager in the field but his salaried pay as much as he worked came out to less than minimum wage.
We need less exploitation, not more and continuing what's going on.

The reality, as someone who was a salaried manager for most of his life, is that managers often work more hours, are on-call for more hours, are expected to handle emergencies after-hours and weekends, which really does reduce their pay -- measured on an hourly basis -- to close to their hourly staff. And sadly often without the freedom to just escape and not be bothered for 16 hours a day, and weekends.

There are often perks that make up for some of that, but it shouldn't be forgotten that managers also take on the responsibility for what their teams do -- it is they who have to answer to the E-suite, without blaming it on their workers. That gets shouted down in the boardroom before anything.

what planet do you live on? Social workers, therapists, teachers, nurses are all salaried positions and do not make good money by anyone's standard

I don't agree at all. You make it sound like those people are just barely scraping by.

Just who's standards are you using? Pakistan?

Yeah. When I worked at an Arbys and the gas station shift manager were paid and hourly wage and if a manger or an extra one was needed you absolutely do not call them in but the salaried assistant manager or store manager. It's exploitation and expecting more work for less pay.
