Man's Interpretation

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. [21] For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

"the Bible is true because it tells me so because it is true because it tells me so because it is true because it tells me so" times INFINITY

Interesting he would choose to hide the truth in such a fashion.
he has made the bible available to all the nations... so his truth is not hidden. The problem is that people refuse to accept what the bible says.

Thank you for ho. Agree to disagree.

If you disagree with my position, and you can, it's an illogical decision, as it quite literally defies the dictionary definition of deductive logic.

That is if you still hold to the idea that "Either the scriptures are perfect and only a perfect word of god is reliable,"

which in theory could exist, but it wouldn't matter as it would be useless.

:) I'm not going to debate the Bible's authenticity. Take care.

Now you are simply engaging in double speak.

Either the bible is able to be understood, as you claim, by only certain people god allows, or the bible is able to be understood by all.

If biblical scripture means what it means, why is man divided on its interpretation?

If the bible is divinely inspired and god meant exactly what he meant, then why is it that man has to interpret what god meant?

Whatever one, a human being, says is always one's interpretation or one's opinion whether one says it explicitly, it is always implied; it is never a fact.

Not all differences of interpretation are due to blatant refusal to accept what the bible says. There are folks who appear to be very sincere bible-believers who also disagree with other apparent believers on scripture.

The problem is that people refuse to accept what the bible says.

Why not the Ethiopian Bible? Why do people refuse to accept theirs? What if that's all the Ethiopian knows? What about people who've never had the chance to read it their whole lifetime? Whose version were they supposed to accept? What if those versions have drastically different interpretations? Who was to say whose interpretation was right even among those who accepted the Bible blindly at face value? For most of history, their versions were extremely Trinitarian. Were they supposed to accept that? What about the interpolations? What about the different churches in the early days who had different circulating canons? The Muratorian Canon isn't exactly the same. What about them? Were they just supposed to know just because? Is it all just a guessing game?

Between God and the common man are human authors and editors and they, even though probably well-meaninged, had their agendas.

I think the Bible, the old testament in particular, can now pretty much now be placed on a backshelf.

The atheists seem to want to dredge it up even more than us theists. There is plenty of better literature from eastern traditions and from western thinkers of the last century or two that are far more interesting to talk about. To me atheists want to cling to their old pet arguments.

While it is unclear on the precise meanings Jewish authorities attribute to your latter two hypotheses, we all understand that Torah is designed to have multiple meanings. That it is designed to be interpreted and re-interpreted, and that the right and duty to do such interpreting and re-interpreting is a fundamental element of our side of the covenant of Sinai.

The idea that the text should only have a single, universally-agreed-upon meaning that is plain to all is simply a foreign notion to Jewish thought.

As for the variations in meaning of the text of the Torah as understood in other religions, that has nothing to do with us or with God, since we believe God gave the Torah to the Jewish People alone: it was never intended for non-Jews, and therefore whatever meanings they impute to it are their own affair, and have nothing to do with the inherent and exegetic meanings of the text as conceived by its author(s).

We don't know as to what was revealed in the original language to a truthful messenger prophet of the one true creator God of the Bible; so it will always be the interpretation or the understanding of the translator.

It is for this that the one true creator God sends subsequent prophets to convey His message again for the human beings.

This is what my religion tell me:

[2:88] And verily, We gave Moses the Book and caused after him Messengers to follow in his footsteps; and to Jesus, son of Mary, We gave manifest Signs, and strengthened him with the Spirit of holiness. Will you then, every time a Messenger comes to you with what you yourselves desire not, behave arrogantly and treat some as liars and slay
