"March for Science protests ramp up around the globe"

lol. That's rich. The protests could not make more sense, as the President denies science all the time, painting scientific theories as gibberish created by the Chinese.

The Vice President doesn't even believe in evolution.
Dark times indeed the pope makes more sense than many and that is historically wierd. Then again his undergraduate degree is in chemistry, and he is a Jesuit.

Yeah the hook is the data, the line is the evidence behind the data, and the sinker is the scientific method.

You really need to learn how science works.
And it's science that's created the anthropocene epoch. Science isn't in some way blameless nor is it the solution. What people are reacting to, literally, has zero to do with the science but economics. So the whole thing is an internal economic political battle. If in someway, economics was on the other side of the equation everyone that's a denier would be claiming science as proof.

It is very timely to march for science. Right? Please
The world is in dangerous political hands.
Regards
Well it's an economics political issue and not literally a science issue although as I have stated science is nearly 100% the causality of the anthropocene epoch. That invariably gets all kinds of fantasy denials and I am just applying scientific empericicsm to the problem with no bias against science at all.

I am not claiming that we should pour a lot of funding into controlling accelerated climate change. I am just responding to the claim that we should not as well as the unbased assertion that people that accept climate change are deceived by scientists of all sorts of different views on religion, political backgrounds, nationalities, and fields of study for some united insidious plot.

Science should never be portrayed as a close-minded ideology, it should be portrayed as an open search for truth. Bill Nye, who helped organize the march, is a fine example of someone who portrays science as a close minded ideology, wrt agw climate change, he called skeptics deniers. :)

Here's a pic of one of the so called marches, that's not a march, that's a rabble!

Now this is what a real march looks like.. :)

Yes, you can always tell a great scientific mind, by the use of the word 'DENIER!' and 'mother f****r' for anyone who holds an alternate hypothesis to their own! These people almost make Dawkins look rational.
I'd love to hear one of these people relate their 'scientific' understanding of global warming!

On the 2nd pic, that;s a tough call, between her and the chick with the sign, I'm not sure who I'd want to go on a date with less! :)

When not on marching duty, the DPRK chick could be reasonable, but alas, the sign the other girl is holding tells us what goes in her head, sad really.

But I must say I found the DPRK marching chicks pic way more interesting, can't put my finger on why tho...

We elect them to represent us, most people don't believe in evolution- that seems fair enough to me.

and global warming, or whatever they call it these days, ranks dead last on most peoples concerns, after invasion from Mars.

China is is the largest non-complying contributor to IPCC and the greatest beneficiary (along with green industry) of the regulations, it's not really that difficult to understand

Trump lives in the real world, not a political/academic pop science bubble

I think you are right, who's really more indoctrinated with propaganda in these two photos?

the girl with the sword might behead me for being a capitalist, but she might just be playing along, and be really cool to get to know- and she can keep those boots on!

But you know it's going to be hell on toast with the other girl no matter what..

Science isn't an ideology, and it's only "close-minded" in that things that are supported by logic and evidence hold far more validity than things that are not. Science is a tool and methodology - a consistent process - and you can't simply reject it when it produces conclusions you find inconvenient.

Bill Nye, who helped organize the march, is a fine example of someone who portrays science as a close minded ideology, wrt agw climate change, he called skeptics deniers. :)

If you reject something without taking into consideration the actual data and testing, then you are a denier. Skeptics apply critical thinking, which climate and evolution deniers do not.

The funny thing is that the protest crowd appears way more dignified than any of the redneck trainwrecks that were trump rallies, not to mention that every scientist ever (including Dawkins) the world over agrees with their message. And when it comes to science, I'll trust the actual scientists over slackjaw backwater yokels anyday.

Isn't that what I said, science is not an ideology, but some treat it so. Bill Nye is not even a scientist, and he only portrays what he reads about it as though the science is settled once and for all, that's what close minded means. The science of climate change is not settled despite close minded claims, it's on going scientific due process.
