Marijuana

I would agree, and regular usage of Marijuana, as with any mind-altering substance, does keep the brain fogged and emotions numbed in an unhealthy way.

But what about using it on occasion? Say, once or twice a month perhaps?
For me, Sum of Awe, clarity of mind is sacrosanct. Therefore, no. What others do is their business.

The problem with weed in America is black people, black music and racism. "Darkies smoke marijuana to think they're as good as white folk." That was said of the US Senator, Harry Anslinger, who spearheaded the efforts to make pot illegal. There was also a push from the timber industry (who does have reason to fear hemp), but it's largely stigmatized because it's always been attached to black music (which, ironically, white people here can't get enough of and copy it until it's dead, but only once a white artist doing it appeals to the white masses. That's basically the story of rock n roll here).
Damn. I always associated it with hippie stoners and laid back skaters lol
That might be because of TV though (and the skaters in my neighbourhood lol.)

I think if it's used lightly, then I don't believe it's much different than the occasional glass of wine after dinner. I suppose any substance can be abused or misused, but I can't see any wrong in it if done in moderation. Although your point about clarity of mind is well-taken, but giving the mind a bit of R&R on occasion might help in the long run.

I think some of the early reactions to rock and roll had some racist overtones to it. Some people thought it was a communist plot. I don't think it was just the hippie stoners doing it, although they seemed to be the more brazen about it. Although I never really saw its usage or non-usage as any kind of political statement. I've known some people who were arch-conservative Christians who were hardcore stoners. Getting high was just part of their religion.

This reminds me of the movie The Buddy Holly Story, when he's on his first tour in 1957. It doesn't mention anything about hemp, but it's a key point in the story of rock and roll.

Is it weird or me to say, that as someone who grew up during the height of the so called “ice epidemic” weed looks like a weaker version of cigarettes to me?

Like even the anti drug campaigns I grew up with seemingly brushed it aside. Granted maybe that’s just a case of priorities in play, but still.

After actually seeing very hard unregulated drugs, most people I know were almost relieved if their friends or family (or even kids) chose something like weed lol
Conservatives in the U.S. have a long history of witch hunting the silliest ****.

I do not know. I have never tried it. Perhaps it does not hurt - like a glass of wine after dinner.

I have never tried it either. My question to those that have, is smoking a joint like drinking a glass of wine or drinking the whole bottle?

I ask because I have seen some smoke a joint and not be able to function very well.

As I was typing my last post, this bit Paul Mooney said on Chappelle Show went through my head when he said the black man in America is the most copied man in the world, followed be everybody wants to be a black guy but nobody wants to be a black guy. That's basically true here as far as I can tell.

Like the bottle of wine it depends on individual factors like size and tolerance levels.

Although I never really saw its usage or non-usage as any kind of political statement.
The political statement revolved around turning us DARE kids into family destroying snitches and confusing us so severely about drugs that it wasn't unusual for one of us to freak out over legal, everyday crap like Tylenol and caffeine.

That's there as well, but it was there before then. But largely it's because of people like Dr. Dre, and evem then all he did was pick up the torch of showing white people it's cool to smoke weed. ****, even Billy Gibons of ZZ Top was wowed with Cypress Hill and their open, unashamed use of cannabis.

So one should know their limits.
One glass and stop. Three puffs and stop.
Yeah, basically. This is why there's a market for pipes that hold about a pinch of weed. Or some people smoke a bowl or two, which is generally less than the average joint (which weighs a gram and few bowls), and why most edibles are doesed at 10 mg a serving and marked out to break off or coming in individual pieces

Yeah that isn't always fact. I've seen people load one hitters a half dozen times before they stop lol

May be I will try, may be not. I may not have many days left to try. I am 80+. We do not get it in bottled form. Have to go to a Govt. franchise to get a marijuana ball (Goli). :)

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Yes.
Personal taxes here began decreasing with Reaganomics, and the shift to Neoliberal economics has caused corporate taxation to plummet.

We can no longer afford social services, our infrastructure is antiquated, our streets are lined with tents, the middle class is dwindling -- and the rich have never been richer.
I guess I meant personal taxes. I've never known them to actually go down. Anyway, here's one thing that really bothers me about the whole weed thing. Suddenly it's OK to smoke non filtered cigarettes stuffed with whatever? Wow.

And kids used to raid their parents' liquor cabinets. I don't see a difference.

We had a foster teenager stay with us for a summer and he would refill what liquor he took
with water. But this was a conscious choice whereas the kids given the edibles didn't know.
