Masturbation is completely natural. Every primate does it, because they have hands. Every one. You'd think God wouldn't allow them to do it, if he disapproved. Most animals also masturbate in the wild, either through rubbing against objects, or another method. It really is quite natural.

Compared to humans, bonobos really know how to get wild with sex. Homosexuality between both genders, masturbation, prolific sex, etc. Just more proof that if God cared at all, she doesn't care very much (if she exists, that is).

Why would a loving and caring God not want us to learn our sexual needs so that we can better please our partners? Studies have also shown that women who have masturbated tend to have easier times, mentally, with sex.

It is unhealthy, and unnatural to suppress these natural human behaviours. In doing so, we endanger the mental health of many people alive today. We make them fear their nature. We make children believe that it is somehow "nasty", or "wrong", to masturbate. And yet, still, most male children will masturbate (I say most, but probably all do at some point), and a large percentage of females do as well. Because they do it, and have been told it's evil, they get confused, and can wind up with complexes, fears of inadequacy, constant guilt, and many other problems. It's the same as trying to force a dog to be a cat. You can't do it. Can any truly loving parent, knowing the possible consequences, do this to their children? Can any truly loving God ask this of the parents? No.

Oh yes! don't I know the amount of guilt that I lived through because 'It' wasn't even talked about when I was young.
The sum total sex education I received, was from my father - we were walking, and I could tell he was embarassed - I must have been sixteen. "Don't let other boys touch you.....there". A lot of help that was! Schools did'nt mention sex - far too taboo.

I didn't have much more than that, but thankfully I had the power to educate myself with the internet. I think that it is only taboo because people are brought up to think it is. Personally, I will explain everything I know about sex to my future child/ren as soon as they ask. No cutting corners, no shortcuts, every question they ask, I'll give an honest straight answer to. I'll certainly never get angry at them for asking questions.

Imagine how bad it is for the child caught masturbating by his parents. Guilt, intense shame, fear of punishment by the "almighty". While I've never dealt with that, I know people who have. It wasn't fun.

By the way, Michel, were you being sarcastic, in whole or in part? I sometimes can't tell.

No - what I was trying to say (Obviously badly) - was that I was covered in shame and guilt because sex was taboo. The effect it had on me was to turn me into an introvert, shy, and at a loss when confronted by girls - I also had loads of hang-ups as regards sex.

You've never come across as offensive to me, by the way. I guess you're right about 'the tone' - I am rarely sarcastic, as far as I know; Gosh, now you've got me wondering about that ! help!!

I believe a man was masturbating in the bible, and he "spilled his seed", and for this, was punished by God.

PS - I am skeptical about the percentages of males that have had a homosexual experience being higher than the percentage of females. I would have definitely thought the female experimentation to be higher. I have no data or anything to back this up - just a hunch.
