It bothers me that both sides think the other side is the problem. They're reluctant to turn that critical eye towards their brethren.
It may bother you, but that is not what is happening, apparently. I'm not alone in being disappointed by the Democrats. It just turns out that I am also appaled by the extremes of the Republicans.
At
some point things just become too caricatural to be taken seriously, after all.
Note how even you (a fountain of progressive virtue) see the problem as the mere existence of Republicans....no mention of Democrats or their extremophiles.
Who, me? :sarcastic
I'm hardly progressive. Just tired.
And I don't have a problem with the existence of Reps per se. I just wonder what happened to make them so. And refuse to just shrug it to the unfairness of existence. People ought to have discernment and act accordingly.
Maybe it is too much to ask. But hey, a guy has got to have hope.
That other side comprises the same thing, ie, good people, bad people, smart people, dumb people, & everyone in between.
They play by the same rules & use the same tools & techniques to win office....electing the same fallible human beings.
But only one of those sides is stooping to supporting such extreme policies as the GOP. It
is a shame that the other is emulating it to such a extent, granted. Still...
The only real difference between people is the which side they join.
Sure, sure, there are some big philosophical differences between candidates campaigning in primaries, but by the time they finish fighting over the fence sitters in order to win 51% of actual votes, they've staked out some pretty close middle ground.
Yep. The actual problem is indeed the lack of awareness and political responsibility of the voters, not so much of the politicians.
The only real difference between the Big Two is that Dems pretend to like black folk, & Repubs pretend to like small government.
There is an additional difference. Reps, at least the succesful ones, usually like to pretend to be insane or at least criminally irresponsible as well.
Don't look at me like that. I call them as I see them, and I am certainly no trend-setter for Republican policy and campaigns. It is not my fault.
Since elections began....at least in this country. Pre-civil war electioneering history in the US is pretty fascinating in its brutality.
Whose standards? Mine? Hah!
To own a fully automatic weapon in the US requires permission of both the BATF & local law enforcement officials, plus an extensive background check.
SUMMARY OF STATE AND FEDERAL MACHINE GUN LAWS
I looked into acquiring a machine gun for museum display, but it wasn't worth the work & cost.
Anyway, the info is there for anyone to see, but lefty fear mongers find fiction more effective.
Fair point.
Of course you believe the Repubs are evil incarnate....you're on the other side. And I'm sure that Repubs also believe the Democrats are the problem.
They must be, if Conservapedia is indeed a serious site as opposed to a genius-level satire. I don't quite know what to hope for on this matter.
Still, just noticing the existence of the mutual disgust between two parties doesn't really go a long way towards showing that both are equally to blame. So I find your observation a bit naive. It amounts to an unsupported assumption out of an apparent desire to see simetry where there may well be none.
It's like arguing about whether raw oysters taste good or bad....they're neither & they're both. Believing isn't reality....it's only a perspective.
Still, reality exists, and we all must either accept it or run from it.
