Minnesota’s New ‘LGBT Education Specialist’ Thinks Teachers Should ‘Explain Nonbinary Identities’ To Preschoolers

School nurse? What?

So instead of arming kids with knowledge about their own bodies, so they can be prepared and be aware of the signs of someone who is trying to (or is) abuse them, you'd rather teach them none of that, and just hope they go to the school nurse when they're being abused, even though nobody has taught them about what abuse looks like? Teaching little Jane and John the names of their body parts is too much for them? Come on.
Yep, as so many of the Pubs believe that educators should not educate in any kind of broad sense.

We pay the taxes that run these schools and pay the teachers. We have a right to know what they're teaching and push back when they're teaching minors inappropriate things on our dime, especially when it's nothing more than thinly veiled political activism. Children do not belong to the government. They belong to their families.
This is why there are boards of education besides the fact that a parent can always call a teacher to get an explanation.

"In the you-can’t-make-up-this-stuff department, here’s what the Republican Party of Texas wrote into its 2012 platform as part of the section on education:

Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority." -
Golden oldie but the general attitude to education hasn't changed.

Yes. The deep state thinks it knows how to raise other people's children better than their own parents can.

When it comes to the parents who freak out at the idea that trans people exist or that some kids in their child's class have two dads, that's probably a fair assessment.

The opposition and especially the kind of opposition to having trans and gay issues on the curriculum is the best argument that they need to be there.

The "deep state" is a conspiracy theory and has no merit. There is no "deep state".
Depends how you define it.
I think of the "deep state" as those people in government who are tasked with executing the laws Congress (or the President through Executive Order) makes but find creative ways to not do it as intended.
Example: Trump ordered troops to be drawn from Germany. The generals said "Yes, Sir" and did nothing. Biden revoked the order 9 month later during which not one soldier left Germany.
That is the deep state and it has power.

That's not what the term refers to.
