miracles

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
If there were miracle cures, why cant they grow back a leg?

What is logical does not enter into the freakin' mind of these "Believers".
I'd let them be to eventually figure things out for themselves if they ever do. It's not like people don't warn them beforehand.

Fortunately most people are not that addle minded and obtuse when it comes to things like this.

You seem just like one of those people who expect a payoff at the end of a Nigerian scam.

Show even one of these so called medically confirmed miracles and then we can talk. :D

You may want to believe. But your belief isn't a convincing argument. I find it sad you don't realize it.

I find it sad you want to argue miracles and dont know about
Katherine Kuhlman. Their at least 5 books of hers with interview with the people, names of their doctor etc. Many of them also appeared on her television program "I believe in miracles"

One example Dorthy Otis owner of the largest talent agency
in Hollywood Instantly healed of a horrible back condition
She had seen a new doctor a week before who took xrays of her back. After being healed she went back to him 3 days later and he took another set of xrays
After comparing the two set of xrays the doctor said "If it possible Id say you had a complete back transplant" I believe the doctors name was "Hirsch" He also gave her a written statement verifying the miracle
Her husband was instantly healed of an advanced asthma condition at the same meeting
There testimony is one of several in the book "I believe in
miracles"
They also appeared on her national television program"

You present as exactly the kind of person who will
get scammed, and be next to impossible to convince
that what has happened was a scam.

I was home sick and watched Dr. Phil, there was this lady who met someone on line, and just kept sending
him money, her kids were beside themselves and
finally got Dr. P to intervene. On national TV she
kept saying its real, he is real, it is true love. Sad!
Heck, t hey investigated, and, yep, it was... Nigerian scam. Quelle surprise!

Or at the bank, they get people sending money off
to, say, claim their prize. Very hard to convince them
that they've been had. Very hard.

It is a version I guess of the "sunk cost fallacy",
or throwing good money after bad, in non-econmist
talk.

You have this emotional investment, years of belief,
tough to give it up, so you just go in deeper and deeper.

Nobody can help you if you refuse help. Dont, though,
be so foolish as to think you are going to drag any of us
into the hole you are in.

Good luck-I mean it- and I hope you will some day
have that epiphany you are fighting so hard against.

"After 200 medically confirmed miracles the evidence speaks for itself."

So you have none? Just anecdotes from believers & wishful thinking? :D

I was asking for just one example of this evidence. People telling that they have seen evidence is not the same thing as evidence itself. Do you think "medically confirmed" refers to stories by "witnesses?"

Testimony is not the same thing as "medically confirmed."

Again, you can believe, but your beliefs are not convincing for another person. Only you can "feel" this belief.

How do you explain her own heart failure?

The world behaves exactly as if paranormal phenomena existed only in imagination and as a label for certain types of convenient coincidence.
Only 99.999% of the time in my opinion. I believe physical phenomena does occur in miracles/paranormal. I have heard story after story fron regular people to convince me. Physical phenomena can not be explained away as psychological.
People are murdered, get lost and die, get ill and aren't found till too late, all day and every day. No amount of wishing will slide your mobile phone or your tablets closer to you when they could save your life. Cars, bikes, trains, planes, crash all the time without any warning to their victims.
Miracles and paranormal phenomena happen rarely and for reasons we can not see from our physical-only perspective.
If animal A could detect and interpret the mind of animal B outside the range of A's senses, then that would hugely enhance A's chances of surviving and of breeding. Accordingly evolution would select for it very strongly. Same with twoway telepathic communication, prognostication, clairvoyance, telekinesis, whatever. But we see nothing of the kind in nature.
Actually in the evolution of the human brain I believe logical and analytical (left-brained) thinking became selected over intuitive (right-brained) thinking particularly in challenging climates and regions.
And Randi's prize, which began in 1964, by 1996 had grown to $US1m, and ended in 2015, was never once successfully claimed. Surely if there had been even one genuine case of paranormal talent, that would have drawn it out?
I've discussed this before and the prize is all show. As who ultimately determines the winner, Randi. He is not going to lose when that is his cause celebre.
Nope. Not one authenticated example, not one repeatable experiment, not one explanatory hypothesis expressed in falsifiable form and surviving.
Controlled parapsychology experiments have show positive results with fantastic odds against chance. These results complement the anecdotal evidence.

The largest talent agency in Hollywood is not Dorthy Otis. The agency isn't even accredited by the BBB. It's not even in the top 7.

The THR Guide to the 7 Major Hollywood Agencies

I hope Christians don't suck this BS up just because it's touted as being one. ;0)

This was in the 1970s Shes 93 Now
Avoiding the real deal are you ? instantly healed verified by xrays and her doctor
She had the xrays hanging upon the wall of her office to show to everyine who came

You dont have a clue about miracles and you make sure you don't find out
Those who assert the reality of miracles set big problems for themselves, particularly by their lack of skeptical rigor in investigations. Instead they want to believe so they do, case after case of believing is seeing, failure after failure to rule out fraud and misreporting by thorough enquiry. (This is especially so when you consider the vested interests of certain churches where miracles, not least claims of healing, are good for business and sometimes directly linked to serious money.)

Sainthood for non-martyrs in the RCC requires two (Roncalli recently got by with one) miracles, none of which have addressed the question, why can't God heal amputees?

Miracles are also incompatible with any concept of divine justice, since the purported winners imply equally worthy losers. If any of it were true, it would be a meaningless lottery, not an earned reward.

And biblical promises of miraculous healing, as eg in James 5:13, are simply false, as you can demonstrate for yourself.

You're also aware of the results of the various surveys that show no efficacy in praying for the sick, I take it.

Yeah, I have heard of number of people, who claimed to have been abducted by aliens and tested. They were regular people, but the only evidences are their testimonies, which I think are unreliable and unverifiable. There are 4 possibilities that I can think of,
  1. they are delusional,
  2. they are fanatics,
  3. they are seeking 5-minute fame,
  4. or they are trying to scam people.
The same things I think of, regarding to people who believe miracles, supernatural/paranormal.

But seriously, although I do think there are life in other planets, I seriously doubt that could travel light years away, just to abduct someone for testing purposes.

To give you another example of regular people acting stupid, like the faith healers, is the Pentecostal church, where people supposedly can Speak in Tongues (Glossolalia).

In the NT Acts, disciples supposedly received a gift from the Holy Spirit, in which they can speak languages from different cultures, where they can preach to foreigners.

It is not languages they can speak. They are simply making incoherent noises, in another word, gibberish.

I have doubts.

And the claim of cumulative evidences are often based on biased beliefs, nothing real and tangible.
All I can say is for decades now I have looked at the quantity, quality and consistency of the evidence and find the case for the paranormal/miracles overwhelming to the point of no doubt. Miracles do happen I believe.

I guess that is a judgment call where we disagree.
