Missouri Republicans vote 104-39 to reject open-carry amendment

This whole idea of "we need guns for safety" drives me crazy. Let's you and I pose a question to everybody:

"Do you know anybody -- or do you know of anybody -- who you would not feel safe around if they had a gun?"

Let me tell you, I've been around a long time, and I have known many people that I would have actively stayed far away from if I thought they were armed. Fortunately, in Canada, there are far, far fewer armed people wandering around than in the US.

"Do you know anybody -- or do you know of anybody -- who you would not feel safe around if they had a gun?"

Sure and they are legal to own then. I just don't go around them if they have a gun.

I also know people who talk constantly, I avoid them as much as possible too :p

And gods forbid one of your "responsible 17 year olds" decide to b a cosplaytriot like Kyle Rittenhouse and be a Big Bad Defender on public lands.

Game warden -son what are doing with that 22 rifle?
Boy -I am squirrel hunting.
Game warden -how old are you?
Boy - I will be 18 in thirty days
Game warden -son its illegal for you not to have supervision. I have to take you in.

Yep that 30 days is all thats needed for that boy to mature and go fight a war o_O

You're being obtuse. To my knowledge its already illegal for minors to carry, open or concealed on public streets.
That does not seem to be the case to me. Can you cite the law that governs this? I could be mistaken but streets are land that is owned by the city and therefore would be public land.

Yep, laws are like that . They are not perfect. But they do try to be reasonable. By the way, law enforcement often can decide whether or not to write someone up.

Already posted it once......

Open carry and concealed carry are legal in Missouri without a Concealed Carry Permit (CCP) for anyone 19 years or older who can legally possess a firearm (18 for members of the military or honorably discharged).

You are flat wrong with that representation. That only applies for the CCP, not open carry in general.

For the record, I know plenty of 12-17 year olds that I trust with a gun over many adults.

Good! Now, what about those untrustworthy adults? The rules say they can be as well-armed as they'd like!

It's fascinating -- you made a statement that (though you didn't notice) supported my entire point -- and then you couldn't figure out how to make sense of it in the context of the discussion.

Look, I don't care whether loons carrying guns and shooting up public schools are 11, 18, 49 or 812! Focus (if you can) on the important points --- loons....guns....shooting.

Loons? Are you saying mental health is at play?
