Why can't it illustrate desire to understand the Russian
perspective? I consume news that I know has propaganda
(that I disagree with) because it illuminates why others
think as they do, eg, OAN. To know what Putin's government
tells Russians would be interesting.
I have heard clips of Russian broadcasts. It is consistent wit propaganda.
If someone opts to listen with an understanding that Russia presents propaganda, then a person won't take any of what is said truthfully. Effective propaganda can take several facts and then manipulate them into a biased perspective, so it is exceptionally time intensive to sift through what is verifiable and what is bogus. Most people don't have the free time and broad expertise to do this analysis. As a state news source it can control what the majority of citizen believe to be factual.
Few of us have time to sift through biased reporting, and it can be exhausting if it's not our job. This is why I prefer to use reputable and respected media sources so I don't have to sit there and question every statement. Reputable news sources do monitor Russian media and report on what is being said and how it is presenting false information.
I have watched FOX and OAN and my experience is very uncomfortable. I can see the breath of journalistic ethics, and hear biased phrasing in reports. I can't even stay focused on the content because I keep hearing problems in the presentation itself. This content is clearly designed to appeal to emotions to keep the audience excited and engaged. That is how propaganda works.
