It's personal belief. I never said it was official doctrine. On the contrary, if you look at my statement, I said it was UNOFFICIAL doctrine.
Wow! That's sad that he was excommunicated over a personal belief.
HAHAHA! This is the Internet. I don't know who you are, and you don't know who I am.
Or maybe it was a personal belief? You know, I can believe different things that my church doesn't teach, but that doesn't mean I'm right or wrong for doing so. However, with your mention of your brother's excommunication, maybe I can't even have personal beliefs unless the church says so first.
Something tells me that isn't the case. I think SoyLeche is probably right. I know plenty who believe it and they haven't been excommunicated. They just present one set of doctrines for potential converts, and one for church members. I'd prefer just to throw everything out in the open and THEN let the individual make up their mind. If it really is of God, then the Holy Spirit will confirm those teachings. If not, then the Holy Spirit will not.
Hahaha! I get the joke. And again, I never made that claim. I merely said that my old bishop had confirmed it as being from God (after it was already confirmed by the Holy Spirit to me).
No thank you. I see little point in debating. Discussions, sure, but not debating. Besides, the LDS Church considers only the 4 standard works to be doctrinally binding.
I think I'm going back to CARM - the Mormons here are the most incensitive bunch I know. bye bye

Yeah, see, my issue is that I don't believe your bishop actually told you that. I didn't ask who you are, I asked what ward you belong to.
Give me the name of your ward and I'll confirm your story with your bishop.
The LDS church does not have two sets of doctrines. Would you like to provide some evidence that is true?
So now you are saying that some things from God aren't doctrine? :cover:
It would have been better if that question was rhetorical as madhatter had suggested.
No WAY am I going to mention my home, my friends, or my LDS mentors on the INTERNET. I don't know who reads this, and I don't, nor have I ever trusted YOU.
THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY THAT I WILL REVEAL MY CITY, MY REAL NAME, MY WARD, MY ADDRESS, MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, ANY NUMBER OF ACCOUNTS I HAVE IN MY NAME, CHECKS OR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION, OR ANYTHING ELSE WHICH I CONSIDER TO BE STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.
THIS IS THE INTERNET. EVERYTHING IS IN WRITING AND IS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC TO SEE. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS THE INTERNET!!!
Have you ever read the book Gospel Principles?
If I were LDS, then yes, that would be true. However, if you remember from previous statements (and I'll say this one more time) I AM NOT A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING WITH THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, NOR DO I REPRESENT THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS (AKA "THE MORMON CHURCH") OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH IN ANY WAY. I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF A "LATTER-DAY SAINT." PERIOD!!!
I WOULD CONSIDER MYSELF A MORMON FUNDAMENTALIST, (WHICH ACCORDING TO GORDON B. HINCKLEY, THE PROPHET OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS THAT I DO NOT REPRESENT HAS SAID THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MORMON FUNDAMENTALIST), OR A "TRUE MORMON," "PURE MORMONISM," OR WHATEVER ELSE MORMON FUNDAMENTALISM IS CALLED!!!
Is that clear enough for you, or do you need further explanation?
Please try for once NOT to take my sentences out of context in the future, okay? That seems to be the basis of all your "confusion." It's also a debating technique. As a stated earlier, and let me make this real clear for you.
I DO NOT DEBATE RELIGION. NEITHER SIDE COULD PROVE EACH OTHER RIGHT OR WRONG. IT DOES NOT WORK. I DISCUSS RELIGION. DISCUSSING IS IN A FRIENDLY MANNER. DEBATING IS USUALLY NOT. WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO IS DEBATE AND I WILL HAVE NONE OF IT.
Thank you. I hope you understand.
now that i made your post readable, i shall rebutt. It would have been better if that question was rhetorical as madhatter had suggested.

You don't want to debate because it hurts your feelings of you thinking you are right. which is understandable when you don't actually have a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel.
You are not a true Mormon, because #1 there is not such thing as a "Mormon." we put up with the name just like "Gay" people put up with being called "Gay." It was coined by anti-LDS people in Joseph Smith's day because of the name "The Book of Mormon." Even on the LDS newsroom it is stated that the preferred title is LDS or Latter-day Saint.
I am sorry that you feel the way you do about the LDS church. How you think we are hypocrites and such. While my wife has been investigating the church i did not leave out a single detail regarding Temple Ceremonies (aside from specifics which we are only allowed to discuss inside the temple walls, which I informed her of and she said she understood), the Gospel plan, or any of the details regarding the restoration or the Church programs. This is how most people are taught the gospel, nothing is "sprung" on them, there are no "two doctrines" of the church. If you believe that, you are a very confused young man.
Fundamentalist groups embrace practices that are against the law. we are to abide by the laws of the land in which we live. It is that simple. Certain doctrines have been suspended by the voice of the Lord, because we are a law abiding people. We are upright citizens who engage in all duties to our country, states, counties, and cities. Disobeying the laws of the lands are serious sins.
I hope and pray that you will listen and heed the words of the true prophets of God and turn away from your awful situations and follow them. I have been blessed beyond measure because of my trust in their councils, even when things seems like they are going to slip away, or when hope seems distant. I trusted that the Lord would take care of me, and he has. Chasing false doctrines and not being in good standing with the lord nets you no reward, gains you nothing, and gets you nowhere. I know because i have been down that road.
Feeling afraid or attacked is normal when you know something is false but you let Satan blind you with your own pride. It's a horrible place, I know. I hope the spirit blesses you with comfort to know what is true and what is not.
