The Dark Age is at least a misnomer. What we have today is a selfish hedonism and nihilism that plays out like being drunk on a bad reading of Nietzsche, and getting behind the wheel of a large truck. People believe they have right to do whatever they want, and we're so far removed the collective they also believe everyone's health is entirely their own making. It's a bunch of "me me me me me me me," and it's showing another facet of its destructiveness.
It's the "Selfish Arselings Age."
The anti-vaxers I know believe they're doing the right thing.
They're operating with different premises.
I know. But our rollout is still in phase 1. So basically vulnerable people, their caretakers and people in essential services and hospital workers. Which is fair enough, they should have priority.
But the Pfizer vaccine, which is the one recommended for my age group, might not have a massive supply until October. And I am not keen to get the Astrazena or whatever it’s called. Again it’s not recommended for my age group so I will follow medical advice. It’s just taking forever is all lol

That's most people in most situations. The Klan, for example, thinks they are being good, god-fearing Christians. Andrew Jackson thought he was right to abuse and slaughter the Natives. That's every cop who's ever abused and killed a civilian. Rationalizing our misdeeds to justify them is a normal human thing.

I have an annual flu jab, it isn't great but I go an get it; I suspect it'll be similar - maybe even rolled into one.
Last year, we saw multiple reports of people calling COVID a hoax, then ending up in an ICU or dead. This year, I expect to see reports of those who refused vaccines following in those footsteps. I expect to see the testimonials of people dying who say (or whose families say) they wished that they had not listened to the bad advice from their tribe. Like the Capitol protestors in jail awaiting trial, they'll be lamenting listening to the wrong people.
This just appeared locally. The last line set off exactly what you'd expect. My two favorites were the guy who went on about his rights and his unwillingness to expose himself to risk, then complained that the person running this class (from her home) is discriminating against him. I guess her rights and those of the people that want a protected environment for ukulele class in defense of the risk they feel he represents.
Then there was the guy telling us that, "This is divisional and prejudiced, using hand sanitizer is 99%. effective." He reminds me of the creationists who use the science they like to argue against the science they don't like. Suddenly, this guy is Mr. Data when he hopes it will serve him.

People choose to do whatever without needing to be affiliated with a political party.
The norm is for the claimant to provide one's own evidence.
