You watch all the best shows.
Giant Richard Kiel was given a real meaty part in that movie and actress Dolores Faith was absolutely stunning (as always).

Bleach Blanket Bingo
DVD/ Color/ 98 Mins./ NR/ 1965
In the fourth of the highly successful Frankie and Annette beach party movies, a motorcycle gang led by Eric Von Zipper kidnaps singing star Sugar Kane managed by Bullets, who hires sky-diving surfers Steve and Bonnie from Big Drop for a publicity stunt. With the usual gang of kids and a mermaid named Lorelei.

A nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

Dr. Goldfoot And The Bikini Machine
DVD/ Color/ 88 Mins./ G/ 1965
Dr. Goldfoot (Vincent Price) plans on taking over the world with his beautiful female robots, who seduce rich and powerful men. Robot #11/Diane (Susan Hart) is sent after millionaire Todd Armstrong (Dwayne Hickman). Secret agent Craig Gamble (Frankie Avalon) tries to stop the plot but ends up in the torture chamber with Armstrong. The parody of "The Pit and the Pendulium" is the highlight of the film which also includes bits by Annette Funicello, Harvey Lembeck and Deborah Walley. Title song performed by The Supremes. Followed by the sequel "Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs" which makes this movie look like "Citizen Kane."

I find it very difficult to realize that these films were the equivalent to our modern Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Pretty In Pink, Better Off Dead, 16 Candles and Some Kind Of Wonderful.

The Last Chase (MST3K (KTMA) version)
DVD/ Color/ 101 Mins./ PG/ 1981
It is the future. Evil fascists have forced everyone to recycle and drive electric cars, and have oppressed all those poor people who want to drive Ferraris and smoke cigarettes. Hero Lee Majors, an ex-racing car driver, decides to make a statement by pulling out his old race car and driving cross-country at 150 mph (he siphons gas from old gas station pumps). Taking along a young computer hacker, he drives for the Holy Land the Free State of California! Of course, the Powers That Be try to eliminate him by hiring Burgess Meredith to shoot him down with a fighter jet, which, too, are virtually extinct.

The young computer hacker happens to be Chris Makepeace.

Is this anything like Simple Jack.

Is this anything like Simple Jack.

I wish. Mighty Jack is a terrible, convoluted, espionage/sci-fi Japanese mess with model spaceships produced by the “master of hokey”, Sandy Frank.

The Corpse Vanishes (MST3K Version)
DVD/ B&W/ 64 Mins./ NR/ 1942
Dr. Lorenz (Bela Lugosi), a mad scientist, wants to keep his elderly wife young. He does this by kidnapping young females and extracting fluid from them. He then injects this fluid into his wife. What a diabolical guy!

I was also treated to an episode of the classic serial Commander Cody.

I saw Blindness this weekend. It was ok, nothing special.

I am starting to notice a trend in movies that deal with people becoming stricken. It may have started with The Happening, followed through with Blindness and is continuing with Quarantined.

I've noticed that too. I've also noticed people are using the "Blair Witch" effect a lot more: Cloverfield, Quarantine and some other movie about a serial killer that videotaped his victims, that came out earlier this year (I can't remember the name). Even Vacancy, which came out a year or two ago used the same effect throughout the movie.

The Happening

M. Night Shyamalan should stop making movies.

Or better yet, I should stop watching them.

That was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen. A Twilight Zone hour long, heck even half hour long, episode would have been a much better fit for such a story. Serling, Matheson or Beaumont could have turned out a good script. I think anyone could have written a better story than Shyamalan.

RELIGULOUS
Theater/ Color/ 101 Mins./ R/ 2008
No religion is safe from the sharp aim--and still sharper wit--of Bill Maher in this comic look at organized belief systems around the world. This controversial documentary is directed by Larry Charles, who previously made both fans and foes with BORAT.

Legends of the Fall - I love that movie!

Rambo 2 - IMHO the best of the series.

Incidentally both Tristen and Rambo make good use of their huge knives.

Friends of God: A Road Trip with Alexandra Pelosi

Documentary filmmaker Alexandria Pelosi tours red state America examining the practices, politics and beliefs of fundamentalist evangelical Christians. Interviewees include Jerry Falwell (who kicked her out on learning that her mother is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi) and Ted Haggard, disgraced former leader of the National Association of Evangelicals, and members of the Christian professional wrestling circuit.

*I liked this documentary just because I will never get tired of watching those fundies be so...fundamental. Worth the watch! :bounce

This movie was...incredibly sick. But it's based on a true story

The Girl Next Door

Based on the Jack Ketchum novel of the same name, The Girl Next Door follows the unspeakable torture and abuses committed on a teenage girl in the care of her aunt...and the boys who witness and fail to report the crime.

*Has anyone ever heard of this story? It's based on Sylvia Likens. Here is what crime library said:

On October 26, 1965, Indianapolis police answered a call saying that a girl had died. The call came from a pay telephone in front of a Shell station in a poor section of the city. The caller was a teenaged boy whose voice had not finished changing into that of an adult man. He sounded very nervous and directed the police to the address, 3850 East New York Street, at which they would find the dead female.

When the cops got to the dingy, rundown, clapboard home to which the anonymous caller had directed them, they found the emaciated dead body of 16-year-old Sylvia Marie Likens. She was covered with bruises and small wounds, later revealed to be cigarette and match burns that numbered over 100. There were also large areas where the outer layer of skin had peeled off. Likens also had a large letter "3" branded on her chest. However, the most remarkable injuries, by far, were the words in block letters that had been burned directly onto her stomach: "I'M A PROSTITUTE AND PROUD OF IT!"

It continues... The Torturing Death of Sylvia Marie Likens, from The Crime Library - Crime Library on truTV.com

Great movie, but definitely twisted. So, so, so twisted. I recommend it only if you like true crime stuff, as I do, and have a strong stomach.
