Why are Christians actively protesting abortion, gaymarriage and theory of evolution if the bible is just a book?

Some Christians are. Not all of us. I'm not a fan of the "culture warrior" sort of Christians, myself. Funnily, those types aren't actually getting their social positions directly from the Bible.

Now, the Bible is important, but we have to put it into perspective. The experience of and communion with the living God is more than mere words. The Bible is more of a grand story of humanity approaching and trying to understand God, and God reaching out to us. But it is not the be-all and end-all of humanity's journey with God.

And the more important question for forum administrators is whether or not someone answering 'yes' to the above question should be reported to the appropriate authorities.

This is the idea that scares a lot of people. That Muslims might not be willing to act in the interest of the secular community and are stubborn in refusing to "reform" their beliefs, putting so much faith in a book that, to them, was written by an imperfect historical figure. If you refuse to explain this to them, you should expect certain forms of prejudice based on fear.
