Isnt that compulsion? if you don't do it god will treat as a bad guy? in what way?
May i ask you one question?
Do you pay your governmental taxes by your own choice ?
What if you refused to pay your taxes ?
is that compulsion to pay your taxes,if yes,then why you pay,you should refuse
because we are in a modernised world,just say i dont want to pay,its up to me,
i dont like any one to ask me to pay,but i do pay from my own free will,or jail
me if you want,i dont like to be forced to pay.
God is asking you to help the poor directly,but you can help the poor and you
can say between you and yourself,god i helped the poor because i like to help
them,not because you asked me to do so.
you can do so,what the problem,dont worry of what he will think about you,
you can also deny him,that is the free will and the freedom that god gave to us,
but if you will be lucky after life,that is assumptions which we dont know

Those who associated with Allah will say, "If Allah had willed, we would not have associated [anything] and neither would our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything." Likewise did those before deny until they tasted Our punishment. Say, "Do you have any knowledge that you can produce for us? You follow not except assumption, and you are not but falsifying."
