My personal Opinion about the new Forum software and all that

I realise that it's not that fair to judge a changed Forum during the first day but i have to get it off my chest.

Couldn't a closed off test have happened before it was implemented? I have seen these "lets change and fix everything along the way" stuff regarding Forums more than once and it usually ends in disaster.

There are no religious labels next to the User which is quite bad as the Forum got DIRs which tend to be regulated around these labels.

vBulletin has a nice feature. It let's you see the sub-Forums inside a Forum and whether someone posted in one of those. Now all you see is that in this huge Forum someone posted something. Whether it actually happened in the sub-Forum you are interested in you don't know.
In practice this means that i see that someone posted in the "Abrahamic DIR", Well it wasn't in the Judaism DIR so i don't care. But i don't know that and have to open the DIR to look it up.
That's a step backwards.

Everything is an Alert. Oh why? The User CP was so perfect. You saw that someone posted in a thread you followed and whether someone frubaled you.
Now i feel like i am alerted about everything.

Frubals are gone. Face it they are gone. A like is not a frubal. You could leave a nice little sentence as to why you frubaled him. Now its just a like.
That's cold.

I could go on how i don't like xenforo at all but iam not sure whether that leads somewhere.

Ah well. I hope it gets better.

I agree with the alerts. I turned all mine off because I didn't like 10 different things flashing on screen all at once "alerting" me to stuff I'd get to anyways.

I like what I've seen so far. Let's give it some time since like any new software installation there are always little things to fix and adjust.

I don't like all the stuff popping up in NoScript. Holy crap that's alot of marketing stuff trying to jump in my computer.

Unless I've overlooked it, there doesn't seem to be a listing of threads with the most recent posts like the old version of RF had at the very bottom of the main page.

I can certainly understand why people like using them, but if that's an ad blocker you can't expect sites that rely on ad revenue to accomodate you in circumventing that.

I find it weird that my friends have been transformed into followers...

like wise freinds is a mutual agreement , Follow sounds like the king of things stalkers and trolls do ???

and I cant find any of the posts I was participating in ?

I am not sure I realy like this social media style , ...Like , ...Follow

I liked the old RF , discuss , ...comment , ...enquire , ...

So long as the most recently posted (active) threads can appear in order, as before, that will be great. I'll wait and see how things turn out.

There's a "Recent Posts" option in the tool bar at the top of the page, and "New Topics", "Hot Topics", and "Liked Topics" buttons in the right column on the Hope Page. "Hot Topics" is the same as "Active Threads".

Then the advertisement junk shouldn't choke and clog your computer, or farm your data. That, and it's not like I ever really look at them or buy anything from them.
I was however, a donor years ago when RF took donations, and I'd rather pay $2 a month again than let all the marketing stuff pillage and plunder my computer and data.

The old User CP was mind numbingly slow.
This new stuff is much faster.
It'll take some getting used to, & there's work to be done,
but I think it's a great upgrade to a great service consider'n
how little I pay Quagmire in dues.
